Citizens fear that voting for the candidate they prefer will help elect the candidate they loathe, so they end up choosing the lesser of two evils. In Tompkins County, activists are working to change the county charter to mandate a solution to this problem: Ranked Choice Voting. After watching the brutal beating to death of Tyre Nichols by Memphis Police, I've decided not to show the footage on my social media.

Instead, I'm going to provide you with a breakdown of what happened (in the comments) and then give you a link to the raw footage, if you wish to watch it for yourself.

Simply put, Tyre appears to have committed no crime, and certainly nothing that deserved being threatened, chased down, beaten to death, and mocked as he cried out for his mother.

This will not be the last murder like this until we end the "thin blue line" culture of police lawlessness:

- End all immunity for government employees
- End police unions
- End police militarization
- Criminalize failure of officers to intervene when they witness other officers breaking the law

Rest in peace, Tyre.
