Press Release Regarding the Movement's Position on the African Union Commission's Attempts to Legitimize Coups and Support Terrorist Organizations in the Region
The leadership of the Movement has followed with great astonishment and condemnation the statement issued by the African Union Commission, which welcomed the so-called "Sudanese Dialogue" called for by Al-Burhan, the leader of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood organization.
This welcoming represents a blatant undermining of the principle of neutrality and the African Union's Agenda 2063 regarding Silencing the Guns. It also stands in stark contrast to the Union's principles in combating terrorism and extremism, as well as the resolutions of the African Peace and Security Council, which criminalize coups and terrorist organizations on the continent.
The dialogue called for by Al-Burhan is nothing but a desperate attempt to rescue the "Old Sudan" project. It is an endeavor to save dignity for the Muslim Brotherhood, cover up their military, psychological, and political defeats, recruit more mobilized forces, and provide jobs for brief case intellectuals.
The African Union Commission's endorsement of the Islamist movement's dialogue will only encourage the continuation of the war and division. It legitimizes coup regimes and undermines all peace initiatives and the foundations of a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
Based on the above, we emphasize the following:
First: We categorically reject any attempt to legitimize this terrorist organization or recycle it through the gateway of a false dialogue, whose paths, outcomes, participants, and venue are controlled entirely by the organization.
Second: We demand that the African Union Commission immediately retract this biased statement, adhere to the charters, goals, and agenda of the Union, and adopt a neutral stance committed to the standards of resolving armed conflicts to stop the war in Sudan.
In conclusion, we renew our steadfast and unwavering commitment, within the Sudan Founding Coalition and the forces of Modern Sudan, to confront terrorism, end the Old Sudan in all its forms, and establish a modern, federal, democratic state where the values of justice and peace prevail, and where genuine dialogue is based on a sound conscience and an open, mature mind.
Long live the struggles of the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army – Transitional Council.
It is a revolution until victory.
