It was energizing to spend time with so many young people who are already finding ways to make a difference.

Celebrated the groundbreaking for American Express new headquarters at 2 World Trade Center. The project will both create thousands of jobs and bring vital energy to the local economy. Grateful for Amex’s commitment & investment to Lower Manhattan.

I had the privilege of attending the co-naming of West 8th Street off of 6th Avenue to Jimi Hendrix Way with Council Member Harvey Epstein. Jimi Hendrix was not only an incredible musician; he knew the power of his voice, and he used it to lift up underserved communities, to speak truth to power, and to support his community. This street will honor his memory and his legacy.

Joined 3rd Street Music School for their annual open house! 4,000+ students were invited to explore and develop their skills in music and dance through teaching artists and sample lessons. The arts have always been at the heart of this community, and I am glad that our kids have a resource like the Third Street Music School to grow that legacy. 🎶

As our city welcomes more and more visitors for the World Cup and America’s 250th year of independence, the hardworking people who keep our hotels running deserve to be treated fairly for their hard work. I joined NYC HTC at the Fairfield and Four Points Hotel to rally for workers on strike and demand that management stop union busting and give them the contract they deserve.

Joined Writers Guild of America, East to stand in solidarity with Scientific American staff and journalists to demand the publication’s new ownership recognize their union. The people who have made this magazine a trusted voice for almost 200 years deserve job security and a fair contract. !

I was happy to share significant legislative achievements that have made a lasting difference for Lower Manhattan and hear from seniors about how we can continue to make our communities more affordable and improve quality of life.
