In the event that you have little or no heat and need to use alternative means to heat your home, please do so safely.

❌ NEVER plug heaters into extension cords- only plug them directly into the wall
❌ NEVER use your oven to heat your home
✅ DO report inadequate heat to 311
✅ DO make sure your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working
✅ DO keep heaters at least 3 feet away from flammable materials
✅ DO move furniture away from heating sources
✅ DO remove or cover your window A/C units

Due to the extreme cold, warming centers continue to be open to anyone in need.

Dangerously low temperatures return to New York City this weekend.

When temps drop outside, the heat should be on!

Between 6:00 AM & 10:00 PM, if the outside temperature falls below 55 degrees, the inside temperature must be at least 68 degrees.

Between 10:00 PM & 6:00 AM, the inside temperature must be at least 62 degrees at all times regardless of outside temps.

If you have no heat and/or no hot water in your apartment, visit on.nyc.gov/HHW.
