🇵🇱 W przededniu 87. rocznicy wybuchu II wojny światowej oraz 86. rocznicy zbrodni katyńskiej, zgromadziliśmy się przy Pomniku Katyńskim w Jersey City, aby oddać hołd pamięci polskim oficerom zamordowanym przez NKWD oraz wszystkim ofiarom wojny.

II wojna światowa była czasem ogromnego cierpienia i zniszczeń, ale również świadectwem siły, odwagi i wzajemnej troski Polaków. W obliczu zagrożenia jednoczyli się w obronie wolności, niepodległości i godności człowieka, a codzienna pomoc oraz pielęgnowanie tożsamości narodowej pozwalały zachować nadzieję i poczucie wspólnoty. Te doświadczenia stały się ważnym dziedzictwem, na którym zbudowano współczesne państwo polskie.

Dziękujemy Komitetowi Pamięci Zbrodni Katyńskiej 1940 oraz Weteranom Placówki 51/99 Stowarzyszenia Weteranów Armii Polskiej za organizację tego ważnego wydarzenia i pamięć o tych, którzy stracili życie w czasie wojny. 🇵🇱

At the symbolic W Hour, the Polish community in New York gathered to honor the heroes of the Warsaw Uprising.

Outside of the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union in Greenpoint, the flag of the Warsaw Uprising was raised once again. It will remain flying for 63 days, commemorating the 63 days of courage, sacrifice and determination shown by those who fought for Poland’s freedom in 1944.

Today, we remember all those who risked everything for a free Poland. We hold a special place in our thoughts for Jerzy Malewicz, a Warsaw Uprising veteran and longtime member of New York’s Polish community, who passed away earlier this year and will be laid to rest in Warsaw next week. We also extend our deepest respect to Andrzej Rawicz, whose testimony continues to remind us that the memory of the Warsaw Uprising lives on through those who witnessed it.

Eighty-two years later, their legacy continues to unite generations of Poles and friends of Poland on both sides of the Atlantic.

Już wkrótce Greenpoint ponownie stanie się miejscem spotkań miłośników kina z całego świata.

Tegoroczny program festiwalu obejmuje również polskie produkcje (m.in. „The Last Goodbye”), które będzie można zobaczyć na dużym ekranie w wyjątkowej atmosferze jednego z najważniejszych festiwali filmowych w Nowym Jorku.
