Arts-in-education organizations like Teatro SEA do more than entertain us. They help communities understand themselves, give artists a place to build careers, and give young people permission to imagine themselves as part of NYC's creative life.

Under Dr. Manuel Morán's leadership the past 40 years, Teatro SEA has created bilingual theater, puppetry, music, and educational programming for children and families, with the help of New Yorkers like the Miranda family including Lin-Manuel Miranda and Luis A. Miranda Jr. We congratulate them on this incredible milestone and look forward to seeing what's to come in the next 40 years and beyond.

One behalf of Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani, MOME's very proud to proclaim Thursday, October 8th as Teatro SEA Day in New York City.

They open up about the pressures of living up to the hype, staying authentic to their cuisine and culture in the East Village, and the moving stories they’ve heard from guests. We also dive into the challenges and opportunities of running a restaurant in New York City, their mentorship and training philosophies, their expansion into consumer packaged goods, and their vision for the future of hospitality.19w
