We offer outdoor water-themed events and tours including visits to historic reservoirs and other important sites. We offer public lectures on NYC's local water ecology. We went on the “best field trip ever” today with 5 x Third grade classes from PS 108 at Orchard Beach!

On our trip students discovered horseshoe crabs on the beach, an Egret in the salt marsh and even spotted a deer in the forest—seeing some of the most incredible species that NYC’s coastal ecosystem has to offer.

We were especially honored to be joined by Council Member herself! Thank you for showing up for these young constituents and supporting programs that bring students outside to learn about their natural world!

And they’re off for the start of the Tree Race! Which tree will they race to next? A sugar maple? London plane, Pin oak, or Green ash?
These 5th grade students learned that all these trees help keep NYC water clean at Silver Lake and at its source in the Catskills.

Four x 5th grade classes from PS 583 visited the best outdoor classroom in the Bronx today— the Jerome Park Reservoir to learn about NYC H2O!

We soaked up the sun ☀️ while making our way around the perimeter of the reservoir observing Fordham Gneiss 🪨 and Linden trees that line the pathway around the park.

At the waters edge, we learned about the tunnels that bring us our fresh water everyday from the reservoir to our sinks and built a functional model of our fresh water system!

A huge shout out to for getting these students outdoors to learn from their natural world!

A 2nd grade class from PS 49 enjoyed exploring NYC’s oldest bridge, the High Bridge, AKA the “Aqueduct Bridge.” There are beautiful metal medallions on the bridge with images depicting the history of the bridge that the kids make rubbings of.
Then share their part of the story with the classmates.

Be sure to stop and smell the roses! 🌹

3 x 3rd grade classes from PS 96 spent the morning at Jerome Park Reservoir learning about the NYC water system.

These young engineers made keen observations about the reservoir, noting the big pipe running across the floor of the empty basin and the water marks on the surrounding walls. They then built their own model aqueducts to understand how water travels into the city.

Thank you to for supporting NYC H2O field trips in the Bronx!

An amazing day at Plumb Beach with middle school students from University Neighborhood Middle School!

We explored the salt marsh and found a family of Egrets hunting fiddler crabs in the grass. Then we learned about our wastewater system and why it’s important to keep our waterways clean!

Shout out to for getting these kids outside to learn about their environment!
