In honor of Transgender Visibility Day, Cornelius Wiggins (they/them)—the youth community engagement coordinator at the NYC LGBT Community Center—shed light on the experiences of homeless transgender and gender-nonconforming (TGNC) youth in NYC. Cornelius helped build The Coalition for Radical Advocacy and Empowerment—a network of organizations and youth dedicated to reshaping support systems for trans and LGBTQ+ youth.

Happy Women’s History Month! ✨ In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re highlighting women’s history and contributions to The Center—curated by Luis, one of The Center’s Archivists!

Today is the last day of Women's History Month and it is also Transgender Day of Visibility (TDoV). We're highlighting author, social worker, activist, and counselor Rosalyne Blumenstein. Blumenstein was the former director of The Center's Gender Identity Project which started in 1989. The Gender Identity Project supported and uplifted trans people in New York seeking support services.
