Last week, COBA delegates from every facility and command came together for our annual Delegate Seminar, an important opportunity to get everyone in the same room, on the same page and focused on the same fight!

Our delegates are the backbone of this union, representing our members every day inside every facility and command. The seminar gives us the chance to share information, discuss the issues facing Correction Officers, hear directly from union leadership and make sure we move forward together with one voice and one purpose.

Yesterday, members of the COBA Executive Board joined Captain Keisha Nicks’ family, friends and fellow members of New York City’s BOLDEST to pay their final respects to a leader who spent 22 years serving our Department.

As a longtime supervisor in the Correction Assistance Response for Employees (C.A.R.E.) Unit, Captain Nicks dedicated herself to supporting the men and women of DOC during some of their most difficult moments. Her compassion, strength and commitment to others left a lasting mark on our Correction family, and her loss is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside her. COBA was honored to stand with her loved ones as she was laid to rest. May Captain Keisha Nicks rest in eternal peace.

COBA is proud to recognize Correction Officer Stennett for an incredible performance at the 2026 NPC Battle Royale & American Heroes Championships in Virginia, earning first place in five of the nine categories he competed in during his first appearance at the event.

A 19-year veteran and member of the K-9 Unit, Officer Stennett represented New York City’s BOLDEST on a national stage and showed that the dedication and discipline our Correction Officers bring to the job extends far beyond the Department!

COBA honors the life and legacy of Correction Officer Noreen Patricia O’Connor, “Ms. OC,” whose more than 44 years of dedicated service left a lasting impact on this Department and generations of New York City’s BOLDEST.

Her decades of service and dedication will never be forgotten. COBA extends our sincere appreciation to the agencies, unions and organizations who have shown their support and paid their respects during this difficult time. Today, COBA joined the family, friends and fellow Correction Officers of Correction Officer Noreen Patricia O’Connor, “Ms. OC”, as she was laid to rest following more than 44 years of dedicated service to New York City’s BOLDEST.

It was an honor to stand together and pay our final respects to a woman who gave so much of her life to this Department and the Correction family. Today, COBA stood with New York City’s BOLDEST as Captain Keisha Nicks was brought home with the honor and respect earned through 22 years of service to the Department.

Captain Nicks spent much of her career caring for those around her as a longtime supervisor in the C.A.R.E. Unit. Her loss in the line of duty is deeply felt across our Correction family. COBA sends our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and everyone who served alongside her. May Captain Nicks rest in eternal peace.
