Greenpoint Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen YES WE ARE OPEN!! Same days, same hours, all in the front yard. We provide hot meals on Wednesdays an Sign up to volunteer here: http://grp.volunteerhub.com/

We serve a hot meal to between 60-80 individuals each Wednesday. Our digital client choice food pantry provides free groceries and fresh vegetables year round to between 150 and 250 people each Thursday. Thanks to programs like HPNAP’s Produce Link and generous donations from local CSAs and community gardens, we’re able to provide fresh fruits and veggies in an attempt to help our neighbors eat h

ealthy. And since some of us don’t know how to cook those veggies, we have a veggie educator onsite and hold healthy cooking demos.

Last night’s community meal was in honor of beloved volunteer Thomas, who passed three years ago this week. We had desserts, iced tea, and a full meal for our many guests and volunteers. Grateful for the time all gave to make the meal a success, and for Thomas’ time with us at the hunger program.

Last week, with the snow-pacalypse, several of our deliveries were cancelled and we weren’t sure how we were going to pull off our pantry service. But Grocer Young and Jubilee Marketplace had already showed up for us in the SNAP Crisis in a big way and I texted him late Tuesday to see if there was any chance he could help us out again; he and his team went absolutely above and beyond. They brought us dozens of eggs, boxes of cereal, rice, vegetables—everything I asked for—and everyone who came on Thursday left with just as much as usual. A wonderful neighbor that we are beyond lucky to have. Much love to Jubilee Marketplace and the kindness they showed us.
