New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) communities came together for National Night Out! 🏘️💙

On August 4, NYPD hosted National Night Out events at more than 70 locations across New York City, including events at or near NYCHA developments throughout Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens.

The nine Police Service Areas serving NYCHA developments hosted events where residents connected with local officers, elected officials, businesses, and neighbors while enjoying an evening of summer activities.

NYCHA leadership and staff from across the Authority joined residents and community partners to celebrate the officers who serve NYCHA communities and recognize their commitment to building stronger relationships and safer neighborhoods.

For Glenmore Plaza resident Jada Rice, the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) has been more than a summer job, it has been a journey of discovering career interests, building skills, and gaining valuable professional experience.

Jada has participated in SYEP every year since 2022, taking on roles in dog grooming, childcare, schools, and office settings. This summer, she took the next step through Ladders for Leaders, a competitive program that connects job-ready young people with internships at leading organizations.

Through her internship with New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA)'s Office of Public-Private Partnerships, Jada has gained experience in community engagement, supported initiatives like Book Rich Environment and Project Move-In, and visited NYCHA community centers to learn more about the programs and services available to residents.

A recent graduate of Baruch College, Jada hopes to use the skills, connections, and experience she has gained to launch her professional career.

Congratulating Elizabeth Reynoso, the 2026 grand-prize winner of New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA)'s John DeCarlo Memorial Award! 🏆💙

Elizabeth has served as a Caretaker at Grant Houses for nearly 25 years, dedicating her career to the same Manhattan community where she was once a longtime resident.

Since joining NYCHA in 2002, Elizabeth has helped maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for nearly 3,800 residents. Her service goes beyond her daily responsibilities. She takes the time to listen to residents, respond to concerns, support her coworkers, and proactively identify and address issues throughout the community.

Her dedication has also helped her build strong, trusting relationships with residents, who know they can count on her to follow through and care about their concerns.

Elizabeth’s commitment, compassion, and integrity exemplify the spirit of resident service at NYCHA.

Congratulations, Elizabeth, on this well-deserved honor, and thank you for nearly 25 years of service to the Grant Houses community! 👏🏽💙

Eastchester Gardens is undergoing a more than $391 million transformation through NYCHA’s program. 🏗️

The renovations include upgrades to apartments and common areas, while residents are also helping monitor construction through the paid Resident Inspector Program.

Congratulations to New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) CEO Lisa Bova-Hiatt on being recognized by City & State as one of its 2026 Trailblazers in Real Estate!

The recognition highlights leaders helping shape and rebuild New York. Since becoming NYCHA’s CEO in 2023, Ms. Bova-Hiatt has led efforts to preserve and strengthen public housing for more than half a million New Yorkers.

Her leadership includes advancing preservation efforts, creating opportunities for residents to connect directly with senior NYCHA officials, and guiding major redevelopment efforts that will create and preserve affordable housing.

As New York City’s largest landlord and landowner, NYCHA has an important role to play in the city’s housing future. We’re proud to see Ms. Bova-Hiatt’s leadership recognized as NYCHA continues working to preserve public housing and serve residents across the five boroughs.

NYCHA Family Days are back — and they're bigger than ever this year! From June through September, we're hosting more than 100 Family Days at developments across all five boroughs. 🎉

This past Saturday, Mayor NYC Mayor's Office brought the energy to the Red Hook West Family Day, joined by NYCHA CEO Lisa Bova-Hiatt. It was a great afternoon of community, connection, and celebration! 🙌

Art, culture, and community came together on two wheels! 🚲🎨

On August 8, New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), the Public Housing Community Fund, NYC DOT, Upway New York, and Thrive Collective co-hosted “Art in Motion,” a 14-mile bike tour highlighting 12 public artworks across NYCHA campuses in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

“NYCHA communities are rich in creativity, culture, and energy, and the bike tour highlighted this through powerful images reflecting shared histories and passions. We’re grateful to NYC DOT and our partners for their support in making this experience possible, and look forward to continuing spreading art across public housing," said Kemi Karim, Senior Manager of Art and Culture at the Public Housing Community Fund.

The tour gave 20 riders an opportunity to experience the murals and installations that celebrate the history, creativity, and culture of NYCHA communities.

For the Williams family, Pomonok isn't just home, it's something worth fighting for.

Tamika Williams-Moore has called Pomonok Houses home since she was 16 years old. What started as local volunteering grew into a decade of dedicated leadership, and today she serves as the Resident Association President. Right beside her is her son Tameek, who now serves as Vice President.

From kitchen table brainstorms to real-world community impact, this dynamic mother-son duo is bringing fresh resources, renovated spaces, digital skills programming, and deep community pride to their neighbors, one project at a time.

Start or grow your career in public health while making a difference in NYCHA communities.

As a NYCHA Health Corps member, you'll receive:
✅ Up to 240 hours of training and professional development
✅ 1,200 hours of hands-on community service
✅ A $22,000 living allowance
✅ Transit benefits
✅ An AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion of your service term

Minimum requirements:
• Be at least 18 years old
• Be a NYCHA public housing or Section 8 resident
• Have a high school diploma or GED by the program start date
• Commit to serving 35 hours per week
• Have an interest in preventive or public health
