NHS Brooklyn takes a photo with the wonderful Gail P. Dukes during the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Gail P Duke Senior Residence and Center, 350 Livonia Ave. in Brownsville, named in her honor.

The senior residence has 144 apartments, a senior center, and Catholic Charity case workers on site to address needs.

This project was decades in the making.

"Six inches of rushing water has enough force to knock down a person," -- Ms. Rosen, New York Emergency Management (NYCEM).

"It's a good idea to have a contact out of State in case of an emergency and phones are diwn locally," -- Ms. Rosen.

FDNY & NYC Emergency Management joined NHS Brooklyn Tenant seminar on Fire Safety and Disaster Preparedness on 10/8 at the Crown Heights Library.
