Experience the first comprehensive U.S. survey of Austrian experimental filmmaker Viktoria Schmid, one of the most distinctive voices in Austria’s contemporary avant-garde film scene.

Presented as part of her residency at Deutsches Haus at NYU, awarded through the Viennale Erste Bank Film Award, this two-night retrospective brings together Schmid’s films alongside works by artists, mentors, and inspirations spanning more than a century of cinema history.

Working across 16mm and 35mm film, Schmid’s visually striking works explore the relationship between light, time, memory, and the materiality of film itself. From "FOODFILMS" and "KATHARINAVIKTORIA" to her award-winning recent work "ROJO Ε½ALIA BLAU", her films reveal extraordinary ways of seeing the world through the lens of experimental cinema.

Curated by Schmid herself, the programs place Austrian filmmaking in dialogue with international pioneers and contemporaries, offering New York audiences a rare opportunity to discover one of Austria’s leading experimental filmmakers.

Austrian artist and filmmaker Norbert Pfaffenbichler brings his nightmarish and visually staggering 2551 Trilogy to this year’s Lighthouse International Film Festival.

Blending avant-garde cinema, dystopian sci-fi horror, silent film techniques, industrial metal aesthetics, and surreal underground worlds, the trilogy follows the Apeman and The Kid through a brutal labyrinth of mutants, masked figures, police oppression, and occult horrors.

Filmed in abandoned WWII bunkers in Vienna and told entirely without dialogue, the films channel the spirit of David Lynch, the Brothers Quay, MAD GOD, and ERASERHEAD into a singular cinematic experience unlike anything you’ve seen before.

🎞 Screening Schedule:
β€’ June 12 | 11 AM – 2551.01: The Kid
β€’ June 12 | 12:50 PM – 2551.02: The O**y of the Damned
β€’ June 13 | 11 AM – 2551.03: The End

Named β€œThe Coolest Film Festival” by MovieMaker Magazine, the Lighthouse International Film Festival celebrates bold, innovative, and thought-provoking independent cinema from around the world.

Marking its 30th anniversary, the Austrian Heritage Collection reflects on three decades of documenting the stories of Austrian-Jewish emigrants who fled N**i persecution and rebuilt their lives in North America. Since 1996, "Gedenkdienst" volunteers have conducted more than 1,000 oral history interviews, preserving voices and histories that for many years received little public recognition.

As the era of firsthand witnesses comes to an end, the project increasingly turns toward the second generation. Nina Glueckselig, Leonie Eidinger, and Beatrice Segal share the stories of their families while reflecting on memory, intergenerational responsibility, and the future of Holocaust remembrance.

πŸ“ Tribeca Film Festival
🎟 Tickets via: tribecafilm.com/films/noga-2026

Directed by Austrian filmmakers Jono and Benji Bergmann, Noga follows internationally acclaimed Israeli alternative pop artist Noga Erez at a pivotal moment in her life and career.

🎞 Screening Schedule:
β€’ June 7 | 8:15 PM – OKX Theater at BMCC TPAC

Praised by Billie Eilish, collaborating with Missy Elliott, and opening for Florence + the Machine at Madison Square Garden, Noga Erez is on the verge of global superstardom when the events of October 7, 2023, and the outbreak of war force her to confront questions of identity, politics, artistic responsibility, and personal vulnerability.

Produced largely out of Austria with support from the Austrian Film Institute, the documentary offers an intimate and unfiltered portrait of an artist navigating fame, activism, love, and creative expression in an increasingly polarized world.

🎢 Following the world premiere screening, Noga Erez and longtime collaborator Ori Rousso will perform a special live acoustic set.
