Tanenbaum extends our deepest condolences to the global Catholic community and to all who mourn the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis.

Known to many as the “People’s Pope”, Pope Francis dedicated himself to promoting interfaith dialogue, friendship, and a lasting peace that transcends communities and borders.

May we continue to advance his values of unity and mutual understanding.

🎥 On-screen stories shape how we see each other and ourselves.

On 04/15, we hosted a special screening and conversation featuring and “Colonel Kalsi: Beyond the Call”, two powerful films highlighting the personal experiences of a Sikh creative fighting discrimination through connection and a Sikh soldier advocating for religious accommodation in the U.S. military. These stories explore identity, service, and the power of authentic self-representation in challenging bias and building belonging.

Following the films, Tanenbaum CEO led a dynamic panel discussion on ethical representations of faith in the media, spotlighting shared themes of vulnerability, representation, and inclusion from both films.

Panelists shared:

🗣️“Storytelling is so powerful. We need to spend more time supporting, creating, and manifesting stories of many Americans who are often not given the space.” Vishavjit Singh

🗣️”I hope that people understand that Sikhs are not a monolith. That we come in many different shapes and sizes- we are not uniform. Some Sikhs pray certain ways, look different ways, it doesn’t matter, we are all Sikh.”

Thanks to all who joined us in person and online for this important conversation.

As we move through March, Tanenbaum recognizes the upcoming observances of Holi, Hola Mohalla, Purim, Naw Ruz, and Ramadan. These celebrations highlight themes of renewal, resilience, and community across different traditions. To support inclusive workplaces and meaningful engagement, we’re sharing resources to deepen understanding and respect for these observances.

✨ Holi, the Hindu Festival of Colors, falls on March 14 and coincides with Hola Mohalla (March 14-16), a Sikh festival emphasizing valor and community service.

✨ Purim (March 13-14) commemorates the survival of the Jewish people in ancient Persia and is celebrated with joy, storytelling, and giving to those in need.

✨ Naw Ruz (March 19-20), observed in the Bahá’í and Zoroastrian traditions, is a time of renewal and marks the Persian New Year, celebrated worldwide.

✨ Ramadan begins the evening of February 28 and continues through March 29. This sacred month in the Islamic tradition is a time of fasting, prayer, and reflection, culminating in Eid al-Fitr.

This Martin Luther King Day, as a new president is inaugurated, let’s seize the opportunity to set the tone for the year ahead.

We are united in honoring Dr. King’s vision of a beloved community—one that celebrates diversity in ethnicity, background, religion, and belief.

Dr. King’s commitment to truth, love, and justice demands our urgent action—across our workplaces, schools, health care, and in global peacebuilding. As a new administration enters office, it’s our moment to challenge harmful, divisive narratives. We do this not by ignoring our differences, but by embracing and understanding them, opening ourselves to meaningful dialogue and learning from one another.

As Dr. King said, “We can very well set a mood of peace out of which a system of peace can be built.”

The future is ours to shape. Let’s create it together.

Kwanzaa, celebrated from December 26 to January 1, is a time for reflection, unity, and the celebration of African heritage.

Created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga, Kwanzaa is grounded in the seven principles of Nguzo Saba, which offer guidance for building stronger communities and promoting values of love, solidarity, and justice. As we honor these principles, we recognize their universal relevance to people of all backgrounds who seek to foster harmony and understanding. The principles of Nguzo Saba are a call to action—encouraging us to reflect on our roles within our communities, to embrace values of justice and unity, and to work together toward a brighter, more equitable future.

At Tanenbaum, we honor these principles and the spirit of Kwanzaa, recognizing that they inspire not only African American communities, but also people of all backgrounds to build a world grounded in mutual respect, cooperation, and compassion.

On behalf of Tanenbaum, we extend our warmest wishes to all those celebrating Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, a time of joy, reflection, and hope for Jewish communities around the world.

Hanukkah, which begins on the 25th of Kislev in the Hebrew calendar, commemorates the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem and the miracle of the oil that burned for eight days despite there being only enough oil for one. This celebration of light over darkness, faith over adversity, and perseverance in the face of challenges carries a timeless message of resilience and spiritual renewal.

As families gather to light the menorah, exchange gifts, and share in the warmth of community, Hanukkah also invites us to reflect on the importance of religious freedom, unity, and the enduring power of hope. In these times, the values of justice, peace, and light are more important than ever.

To those celebrating Hanukkah, we wish you a holiday filled with peace, joy, and blessings. May the light of the menorah inspire you and your loved ones to bring light to the world, fostering understanding, respect, and goodwill among all.
