SEEKING FIELD INTERVIEWERS FOR HOUSING AND NEIGHBORHOOD STUDY (HANS)! PAID FT AND PT POSITIONS AVAILABLE!
Field interviewers play an extremely important role in the overall success of our studies. It is through field interviewers that we are able to connect with potential study participants. For HANS, Field interviewers will recruit study participants face to face and/or on the phone and administer structured interviews in participants’ homes at our HPD office. Field interviewers must be prepared to travel throughout New York City. Highly flexible schedules, experience traveling throughout the 5 NYC boroughs, and experience conducting fieldwork is preferred but not necessary. Applicants must be available on some evenings and weekends.
The part-time position requires a commitment of 15-20 hours per week and the full-time position requires a commitment of at least 35 hours per week. The positions are set to begin in September 2014; hourly rate commensurate with experience, base pay $15/hour.
Qualifications:
While prior fieldwork or research experience is not necessary, candidates with relevant experience and/or interviewing skills are preferred. Similarly, no specific academic background is required beyond a Bachelor’s degree, though those with an interest in public health, child development, urban policy, and/or the social sciences more generally may find the position of greatest value to their professional development. Successful applicants will demonstrate their ability to work independently, think critically, and speak to strangers confidently and persuasively.
A paid training period with experienced field staff will cover the fundamentals of fieldwork including; more information about the research study, the target population, how people are selected to participate, the interview process, and maintaining confidentiality and data security.
