Columbia University Global Brigades is an on-campus sustainable development organization that organizes student educational service trips to Honduras, Panama, and Ghana every January over winter break. These brigades were: Medical, Dental, Public Health, Microfinance, Business, and Environmental. We are a part of the 501(c)3 Non-Profit Global Brigades, Inc., the world’s largest student-led global
health and sustainable development organization (www.globalbrigades.org). Working together, student volunteers and professionals aim to empower communities in Honduras, Panama, and Ghana with programs that improve quality of life while respecting local culture and improving the environment. We develop sustainable community initiatives and provide relief where there is limited access to healthcare. Our mission is to encourage sustainability in rural communities of Honduras, Panama, and Ghana through our Brigades. We also aim to engage the Columbia community in awareness and discussion of issues relating to sustainable and international development. In January 2017, CUGB will send the following brigades to Honduras, Panama, and Ghana: Medical, Dental, Public Health, Microfinance, Business, and Water.
