Asian Pacific American Student Collective

Asian Pacific American Student Collective A network of Asian Pacific American organizations and allies dedicated to activation, education, and empowerment in service of political action.

The Asian Pacific American Student Collective (APASC) is a network of Asian Pacific American organizations and allies dedicated to the activation, education, and empowerment of APA community members in service of direct political and social action. Based in New York City and originating at New York University, we aspire to connect APA students, youth, and young adults from all backgrounds, and to

work in solidarity with allies and other communities of color. Our Collective's working mission statement:

1. To foster connections within the APA young adult community by increasing contact, coordination, and collaboration between pre-existing APA student groups and community organizations.

2. To provide a space and outlet for APA political and social empowerment, education, and action, and to sharpen the political voice of the APA student demographic.

3. To foster connections between the APA and all student groups of color and other progressive activist student groups, with the ultimate goal of creating a cohesive progressive student bloc at NYU and beyond.

Time to renew your Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)?

AALDEF has fact sheets in Chinese, Korean, Punjabi, and Urdu.

On June 15, 2012, the Obama Administration announced that it would grant "deferred action" status to young people who qualify as DREAM Act students and provide them with, among other things, relief from deportation.

"Who caught Bill O'Reilly's recent "rebuttal" of white privilege yesterday? Consider it a case study in how the model minority myth serves to derail conversations about the realities of white supremacy and anti-blackness in America today."

Who caught Bill O'Reilly's recent "rebuttal" of white privilege yesterday? Consider it a case study in how the model minority myth serves to derail conversations about the realities of white supremacy and anti-blackness in America today.

It's a textbook ex*****on, Bill. But we're not buying it--we choose resistance.

"The only tool the state has to respond to violence is violence, whether it's the death penalty or incarceration... I've been thinking about Vincent Chin because we need to come up with a better response to violence than to repeat and amplify that violence in the name of justice."

The most insightful commentary I've seen this year around the anniversary of Vincent Chin's death, from 18 Million Rising's Cayden Mak.

Vincent Chin has been on my mind a lot lately. It's not just because he passed away 32 years ago Monday, or that I'm the same age now that he was when he was murdered. It's not just that we both have deep ties to the Detroit area, and that ever since I heard his story I wondered what he and his fami…

"I am not an American."

The U.S. Interior Department received a resounding "no" to the prospect of government-to-government relations with Native Hawaiians at the first stop in its "listening tour" yesterday in Honolulu.

120+ years after the theft of the Hawaiian Kingdom, many Hawaiian's consider this "olive branch" far too little, far too late.

We are saddened to hear the news that Yuri Kochiyama, one of the great forebears of the Asian American movement, has passed. There is no doubt that her work, spirit, and legacy will continue to inform and inspire our generation's work for racial justice in and beyond the Asian American community.

May our movement do justice to her vision.

Tonight we are sad to hear the news that one of our great movement elders has passed on. Rest in power, Yuri Kochiyama. May we continue to honor how you have touched our lives, and continue our work in your spirit.
