For decades, TCS New York City Marathon and Robin Hood have embodied the best of New York City: resilience, determination, and the belief that when people come together, anything is possible.

Over the last 50 years, the marathon has grown into one of the world's most iconic races, carrying millions of runners through all five boroughs and uniting communities across the city. Along the way, Robin Hood has worked to create lasting pathways out of poverty, investing in solutions that help New Yorkers access housing, jobs, health care, child care, and food security.

For more than two decades, Team Robin Hood runners have been part of that story. Every mile run and every dollar raised has helped fuel opportunities for New Yorkers striving to build stronger futures for themselves and their families.

This year’s team proudly carries that legacy forward, joining a tradition of runners and changemakers who have helped shape a stronger, more equitable New York City.

Training for the TCS New York City Marathon isn't just about mileage. It's about showing up, week after week, even when it's hard — the same commitment it takes to fight poverty in this city. Good health starts with access, and access starts with stability.

New research from Robin Hood and Columbia University's Poverty Tracker highlights how healthcare access for New Yorkers with high healthcare needs has changed from the height of the pandemic through today.

From delayed and forgone care to rising reliance on emergency rooms, the findings show that as the pandemic receded, longstanding inequities remained entrenched. Stable housing, affordable healthcare, reliable insurance coverage, and accessible primary care are all critical to improving health outcomes for New Yorkers managing chronic conditions, disabilities, and serious psychological distress.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Robin Hood’s third annual Pickleball Tournament at CityPickle at Wollman Rink. Together, we raised more than $250,000 to help create opportunity and fight poverty across New York City. It was an incredible evening filled with friendly competition, great food and drinks, music, and community.

Congratulations to Team JOOLA Pickleball, featuring Yankees legend Tino Martinez and Eric White, on taking home the championship title. Whether you were playing on the courts, cheering from the sidelines, or connecting with fellow supporters, your participation helped advance Robin Hood’s mission to fight poverty in New York City.

Today, on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we remember the lives lost, honor the families forever changed, and reflect on the extraordinary way New Yorkers came together in a moment of unimaginable tragedy.

In this video, Emary Aronson, Robin Hood's Chief Knowledge Officer, who led the activation of our organization's 9/11 Relief Fund, shares the story of how Robin Hood responded in the days that followed the attacks. Together, donors raised $65 million to support on-the-ground relief efforts and provide direct assistance to every victim's family.

The lessons from that moment continue to guide us today. As Emary reflects, New Yorkers help New Yorkers. And the spirit of generosity, compassion, and community that emerged in the wake of 9/11 continues to shape our city 25 years later.

On November 1, 82 runners will take on 26.2 miles through all five boroughs in the TCS New York City Marathon— not just for the finish line, but for every family in NYC working to get ahead of poverty.

Every mile they run helps fund child care, housing, health care, and jobs programs that give New Yorkers a real shot at economic mobility. Every dollar raised goes directly toward that mission.

✍️ New year, new classroom, same big dreams. 🎒 As KIPP NYC students head back to school, we're celebrating one of our longtime grantee partners doing the work to make those dreams possible.

KIPP NYC runs 18 tuition-free public charter schools across New York City, supporting kids from kindergarten all the way through college and career. Their mission: partner with families and communities to build joyful, academically excellent schools that give students the skills and confidence to choose their own path — whether that's college, career, or beyond.

That commitment doesn't end at graduation. KIPP NYC was designed as a K-12+ model, backed by a 20-year support system that follows students well past high school because getting kids in the door is only the beginning.

This school year, KIPP students are stepping into classrooms built on the belief that every kid deserves a joyful, rigorous education — no matter their zip code.

Backpacks: packed. ✏️ New sneakers: broken in. DREAM students are heading back to class — and we couldn't be prouder to call this network a Robin Hood grantee partner.

DREAM Charter Schools will welcome over 2,600 students from grades K-12 across East Harlem and the Bronx. This year for the first time, DREAM will also serve 230 children, ages 0-4, into its new Early Childhood Education program. DREAM students will have access to a rigorous, joyful education rooted in a "Grow the Whole Child" model that blends academics with social-emotional learning, mental health support, and free, nationally recognized sports-based programming, all at no cost to families.

What's more, the journey with DREAM doesn't end with high school graduation. Currently, DREAM serves more than 550 alumni through its Legends program which pairs one-to-one case managers to each young person through college and early career.

And the results speak for themselves: for the fourth year in a row, DREAM students outperformed city and state peers in ELA and Math, proof of what's possible when kids get the resources and belief they deserve from day one.

DREAM's mission is leveling the playing field for East Harlem and Bronx communities by investing in the whole child — from early childhood all the way through college support — exactly the kind of permanent, systemic change Robin Hood exists to invest in.
