Backpacks: packed. ✏️ New sneakers: broken in. DREAM scholars are heading back to class — and we couldn't be prouder to call this network a Robin Hood grantee partner.

DREAM Charter Schools will welcome over 2,600 students from grades K-12 across East Harlem and the Bronx. This year for the first time, DREAM will also serve 230 children, ages 0-4, into its new Early Childhood Education program. DREAM scholars will have access to a rigorous, joyful education rooted in a "Grow the Whole Child" model that blends academics with social-emotional learning, mental health support, and free, nationally recognized sports-based programming, all at no cost to families.

What's more, the journey with DREAM doesn't end with high school graduation. Currently, DREAM serves more than 550 alumni through its Legends program which pairs one-to-one case managers to each young person through college and early career.

And the results speak for themselves: for the fourth year in a row, DREAM scholars outperformed city and state peers in ELA and Math, proof of what's possible when kids get the resources and belief they deserve from day one.

DREAM's mission is leveling the playing field for East Harlem and Bronx communities by investing in the whole child — from early childhood all the way through college support — exactly the kind of permanent, systemic change Robin Hood exists to invest in.

For anyone new here: The Forest is Robin Hood's community of young New Yorkers proving you don't need to be a philanthropist to fight poverty — just $1 a day. Members get access to volunteer opportunities, events like Robin Hood Unplugged, and a real seat at the table in the fight against poverty in NYC.

This one was just for fun — members met each other, swapped stories, and reminded us why so many New Yorkers ages 21–40 are already involved.

There’s something about salt air, sunset views, and a shared mission that makes for an unforgettable evening. ☀️🌊

Last week delivered all three thanks to our wonderful donors, Joseph and Lisa Amato, who opened their Martha's Vineyard home for a wonderful summer soiree.

The evening brought our supporters together for an evening of connection, conversation, and shared commitment to our mission — fighting poverty in New York City. Moments like these matter: they strengthen the relationships and collaboration that power everything Robin Hood does for the communities we serve.

Every day, we support health centers doing critical work, and to acknowledge National Health Center Week last week, we are taking a moment to celebrate our grantee partner Children's Health Fund (CHF). 🏥💛

For nearly 40 years, CHF's national network has brought healthcare directly to the kids who need it most. It all started in 1987 with the launch of the New York Children's Health Project, a single mobile medical clinic—a "health clinic on wheels"—to bring quality healthcare to children and families in homeless shelters throughout New York City. That work continues today in partnership with the Bronx Health Collective, a federally qualified health center based at Montefiore Medical Center.

CHF's vision and impact have grown since and today it supports a network of 24 programs in 15 states, Puerto Rico, and Washington, D.C. Through its fleet of 50 mobile medical clinics, at more than 600 school and community sites, and via telehealth, CHF served 133,634 children and families through 479,195 healthcare visits in 2025. To date, CHF has recorded more than 8.2 million healthcare encounters.

Healthcare shouldn't depend on your zip code or your insurance status. It's a foundation every kid deserves, and CHF is building it, one mobile clinic at a time.

Child care isn't a convenience. It's the decision that shapes all the others a family makes — whether a parent can work, what job they can take, how much debt they'll take on, and how to make sure their kids get a strong start.

Nadia’s story is an example of what happens when child care isn't prioritized as vital infrastructure; it doesn't just cost families in the moment, it costs them for years afterward.

That's why Robin Hood invests in child care solutions that give parents a real choice, not an impossible one.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Wyman Khuu, Head of Learning Engineering at Playlab, a Robin Hood Learning + Technology Fund grantee.

Growing up in New York City, Wyman witnessed firsthand how the lack of access to technology held back his community. Rather than leave that behind, he made it his life's work to change it. As a teacher in Harlem and later at Playlab AI, he spearheaded efforts to bring AI tools directly into classrooms, empowering educators in under-resourced schools to create solutions tailored to their own students.

For Wyman, it was never just about technology — it was about giving communities the tools to thrive. That belief in equity, access, and human potential is at the heart of what Robin Hood fights for every day.

He will be deeply missed.

This week, The Forest visited Hot Bread Kitchen(HBK) at Chelsea Market for a behind-the-scenes look at their culinary workforce development program, and it did not disappoint.

Robin Hood supports HBK's incredible work preparing job seekers for sustainable careers in the culinary industry. During the visit, members toured the facility and saw a current cohort of students hard at work, building the skills they need for real careers ahead.

A huge thank you to the HBK team for welcoming everyone, and to everyone who joined afterward for dinner in the market. It was a great way to close out a meaningful evening.

We’re proud to celebrate the generosity of our donor families through Robin Hood’s “Lemonaid” initiative. 🍋

As part of this special experience, families and their children are bringing philanthropy to life by hosting lemonade stands. With Lemonaid kits that explain exactly how each dollar raised helps fight poverty, these young changemakers are learning firsthand the impact of giving back.

Meet Georgie and Evelyn, two 17-year-olds who turned their passion for helping fellow New Yorkers into a podcast.

They are members of Robin Hood's Teen Council, where NYC high schoolers spend one Friday a month talking with government and nonprofit leaders about the issues shaping their city. One speaker stuck with them so much that they decided other teens deserved that same window into their local nonprofit world — so they built one.

"At times, we have both fallen into the trap of thinking that, because we aren't adults, we can't meaningfully make a difference," Georgie says. "Teen Council provides a space where ambition and service thrive and where teenagers have the resources necessary to help work toward change."
