Doulas across the country have been fighting hard for Medicaid coverage, which is critical for reproductive health due to Medicaid being the largest insurance provider for pregnancy and post-partum related care. Share these 4 reasons why doulas led the largest insurance provider for pregnancy & birth to cover their life saving services.

The National Institute for Reproductive Health believes wholeheartedly that cities, states, and municipalities can and should invest in doulas. Doulas are integral community members and are essential to end medical racism and maternal mortality. Led by Black, Indigenous and other doulas of color, these wins are historic and must be celebrated.

✨ It is imperative that policies to increase LARC access include safeguards to protect against reproductive coercion✨
..because LARCs place some measure of control with the provider rather than the patient.

Repro healthcare must include protections against coercion! 🧡

⚡💥🥳*SCREAMING, CRYING, AND THROWING UP IN CONTRACEPTIVE FREEDOM*🥳💥⚡

Today the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) historically approved the “Opill” birth control pill for over the counter use. Opill is the FIRST birth control pill to be approved for over the counter use in the United States. Removing barriers to contraception will allow for people to care for their bodies, regardless of their zip code.

This is a step in the right direction of true repro freedom. NIRH is ecstatic and we hope to see the inclusion of Opill in Medicaid insurance coverage.

“This would be the first time that a state constitution would explicitly name all of those as being encompassed by s*x discrimination and within the context of s*x discrimination" -Andrea Miller, President of National Institute for Reproductive Health Action Fund via The 19th News

The amendment would ban a wide range of s*x discrimination and enshrine reproductive rights in the constitution, measures advocates say could drive voter turnout in 2024.

The fact that we do not uniformly teach our children about bodily autonomy is a problem!!!!

Young people need quality & comprehensive s*xual health education to learn about their bodies & bodily autonomy⚡️🧡

Legal restrictions on our access to reproductive health have no place in our communities!!!

Our communities should spend energy & time on redirecting resources to reproductive health and shifting power! ⚡️🧡✨

⚡️But only when patients autonomy is at the center, every single time, in every single aspect of reproductive healthcare!

Pregnancy and childbirth are matters of bodily autonomy, dignity, and privacy. They implicate critical aspects of public health, such as equitable access to quality health care and health outcomes.
