Today, the Permanent Mission of the Kyrgyz Republic convened the final meeting of Ambassadors of the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries ( ) under the temporary chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the meeting, the Group elected Turkmenistan as its new Chair and Azerbaijan as Vice-Chair. Burundi, Chad, Rwanda, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Paraguay were also elected to the Bureau. The meeting also discussed the further implementation of the Awaza Programme of Action.
The Kyrgyz Republic expressed confidence that the Group will continue to strengthen unity and coordination in advancing the common interests of landlocked developing countries. In turn, the Kyrgyz Republic will continue to actively promote the interests of within the framework of its membership in the United Nations Security Council.
The Permanent Mission of the Kyrgyz Republic also congratulates Fatima Rabab on her appointment as Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), wishes her every success in carrying out her new mandate, and looks forward to continued fruitful cooperation.

Сегодня Постоянное представительство Кыргызской Республики при ООН провело заключительную встречу послов Группы развивающихся стран, не имеющих выхода к морю (LLDC), в рамках временного председательства Кыргызской Республики в Группе.
В ходе встречи новым Председателем Группы LLDC избран Туркменистан, Вице-председателем - Азербайджан. В состав Бюро также избраны Бурунди, Чад, Руанда, Лаосская Народно-Демократическая Республика и Парагвай.
Также были обсуждены вопросы дальнейшей реализации Авазинской программы действий.
Кыргызская Республика выражает уверенность, что Группа продолжит укреплять единство и координацию в продвижении общих интересов стран, не имеющих выхода к морю. Кыргызская Республика, в свою очередь, продолжит активно продвигать интересы стран LLDC в рамках своего членства в Совете Безопасности ООН.

On 1 September, at the UN high-level plenary meeting to commemorate and promote the International Day against Nuclear Tests, the Kyrgyz Republic reaffirmed its firm commitment to the complete and irreversible cessation of nuclear testing.
Kyrgyzstan reaffirmed its strong support for the early entry into force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) and stressed the importance of preserving its verification regime, including the International Monitoring System. The Kyrgyz Republic contributes to the system by hosting and maintaining the Ala-Archa seismic station.
The Kyrgyz Republic also highlighted the important role of the Central Asian Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone. As the depositary of the Treaty, Kyrgyzstan remains committed to strengthening its role and promoting nuclear-weapon-free zones as an important contribution to regional and international security.
The Kyrgyz Republic will continue working with all partners to preserve the international norm against nuclear testing, advance the entry into force of the CTBT and promote the shared goal of a world free of nuclear weapons.

1 сентября в ООН состоялось пленарное заседание высокого уровня, посвященное Международному дню действий против ядерных испытаний. В ходе заседания Кыргызская Республика подтвердила свою твердую приверженность полному и необратимому прекращению ядерных испытаний.
Кыргызстан вновь подтвердил решительную поддержку скорейшему вступлению в силу ДВЗЯИ и подчеркнул важность сохранения его механизма верификации, включая Международную систему мониторинга. Кыргызская Республика вносит вклад в ее работу, обеспечивая функционирование сейсмической станции «Ала-Арча».
Также была отмечена важная роль Центральноазиатской зоны, свободной от ядерного оружия. Кыргызстан как депозитарий соответствующего Договора намерена и далее содействовать укреплению его роли и продвижению зон, свободных от ядерного оружия, как важного инструмента региональной и международной безопасности.
Кыргызская Республика продолжит взаимодействовать со всеми партнерами в целях сохранения международной нормы против ядерных испытаний, содействия вступлению ДВЗЯИ в силу и продвижения общей цели построения мира, свободного от ядерного оружия.

From 31 August to 6 September 2026, the Kyrgyz Republic is hosting the VI World Nomad Games. The Opening Ceremony took place on 31 August at the Bishkek Arena and was officially opened by H.E. Mr. Sadyr Zhaparov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The VI World Nomad Games have brought together representatives from 106 countries, with 2,355 athletes, coaches and members of national delegations participating in the Games.

In his opening remarks, President Sadyr Zhaparov welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of the World Nomad Games as a major international sporting and cultural event that contributes to the preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage and traditions of peoples around the world.

The Opening Ceremony continued with a parade of participating countries. Representatives of 106 States entered the stadium, reflecting the diversity of peoples and cultures united by the shared values of friendship, peace and mutual respect.

A central part of the ceremony was a large-scale cultural performance showcasing the centuries-old history and rich cultural heritage of the Kyrgyz people. The programme featured traditional and contemporary dance performances, equestrian displays, traditional horsemanship and national equestrian games, bringing together artists, riders and creative groups.

The cultural programme combined traditional elements with modern visual technologies, including laser and fire displays. The Opening Ceremony concluded with a festive fireworks display and performances by internationally renowned artists.

Today, 1 September, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov addressed the SCO Plus Meeting in Bishkek.
The theme of the event was “The United Nations as a Key Element of a Just World Order: The Contribution of SCO Plus States to the Formation of a Multipolar World.”
In his address, the Head of State emphasized that Kyrgyzstan views multipolarity as the expansion of the circle of states involved in addressing global issues, based on respect for different development paths, cultures and traditions.
“For us, the main criterion of justice is that the voice of every state is taken into account and that international norms are applied consistently and equally to all. This is precisely why the Kyrgyz Republic firmly believes that the United Nations must remain at the heart of the emerging multipolar world,” the President stressed.
He noted that the existing shortcomings in the work of the UN should not serve as a reason to weaken its role or bypass the Organization. On the contrary, they demonstrate the need to strengthen the UN collectively, enhance its effectiveness and improve its mechanisms in line with present-day realities.
“Kyrgyzstan supports reform of the United Nations, including its Security Council. Such reform must be carried out on the basis of broad consensus,” Sadyr Zhaparov said.
The President also underscored the particular importance of Kyrgyzstan’s forthcoming membership of the UN Security Council. In June this year, the Kyrgyz Republic was elected for the first time in its history as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for 2027–2028.
“I am confident that our forthcoming membership of this body will create additional opportunities to strengthen the UN’s central coordinating role. Kyrgyzstan is ready to promote closer dialogue between the Security Council and regional organizations, as well as to share Central Asia’s experience in the peaceful settlement of complex interstate issues,” the Head of State noted.
Addressing the role of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Sadyr Zhaparov noted that over the past 25 years the SCO had become an authoritative platform for political, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
“Strong regional organizations reinforce the universal system of international relations and make it more resilient, while bringing shared principles closer to the practical needs of our peoples,” the President stressed.
In this regard, the Head of State identified three areas in which SCO member states and SCO Plus participants could strengthen their contribution to international peace and sustainable development: advancing preventive diplomacy; enhancing practical cooperation with the UN in combating terrorism, extremism, illicit drug trafficking and transnational organized crime; and ensuring equitable and sustainable development.
“We must learn to act before political disagreements escalate into a crisis and before a crisis turns into armed confrontation. To achieve this, channels of communication must remain open even when the parties’ positions differ substantially,” Sadyr Zhaparov said.
The President particularly emphasized that security issues should be addressed in close connection with socioeconomic development.
“For millions of people, justice begins with access to education, healthcare, modern technologies and decent employment. Therefore, the SCO’s economic, transport, energy and digital projects must be closely aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” he noted.
Concluding, Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that the formation of a just world order required not uniformity, but respect for the sovereign choices of states, fulfilment of international commitments and the preservation of dialogue.
“A just world order does not require all states to think alike. It requires something else: that we respect one another’s choices, fulfil our commitments and maintain dialogue even in the most difficult of times,” the President stressed.
The Head of State expressed confidence that the Bishkek Summit would mark another step towards building a world in which the capabilities of states were exercised responsibly, the voice of every state was heard, and the security of peoples was ensured on the basis of shared international principles.
“Kyrgyzstan firmly believes that a just multipolar world must be built not against anyone, but for the benefit of all. This is the kind of world we are ready to build together,” Sadyr Zhaparov concluded.

Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation held in Bishkek under the Chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic
Today, 1 September, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, acting in his capacity as Chair, opened a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Bishkek.
The participants discussed pressing issues facing the member states, identified key priorities for further cooperation, and adopted important decisions aimed at enhancing the SCO’s activities.
On behalf of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Zhaparov proposed focusing on the following areas.
First, the President emphasised the importance of further strengthening the SCO as a platform for equal partnership.
“Our Organisation must remain free from bloc-based thinking and confrontation and continue to serve as a platform for building trust and ensuring peace and stability,” the President stressed.
Second, Sadyr Zhaparov highlighted the need to establish an effective and indivisible security architecture.
The President attached particular importance to the early launch of the SCO Universal Centre for Countering Security Challenges and Threats.
In this context, he noted that all the necessary conditions had been created for the Centre for Combating International Organised Crime to begin operating in Bishkek.
Third, the Head of State underscored the need to bring economic cooperation to a new level.
Sadyr Zhaparov stressed the importance of taking practical steps towards establishing the SCO Development Bank. He also invited member states and business communities to make use of the opportunities offered by the Tamchy Special Financial Investment Territory, which opened in the Issyk-Kul Region in July this year, to implement joint projects.
The President also highlighted the importance of strengthening transport and logistics connectivity, noting that the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project represented a major practical step in this direction.
In addition, he emphasised the importance of reinforcing the cultural and humanitarian foundations of the SCO.
The meeting also highlighted the need to establish a common technological space within the SCO.
“It is essential to ensure that states have equal access to modern technologies so that the digital divide does not become a new dividing line,” the President stressed.
During the summit, the heads of state held a substantive exchange of views on pressing international and regional issues. They also discussed the Organisation’s further development, stronger security cooperation, and the expansion of economic, cultural and humanitarian ties.
Concluding, President Sadyr Zhaparov handed over the SCO chairmanship to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The meeting was subsequently addressed by President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko; Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi; President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian; President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev; President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping; Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif; President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin; President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon; and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev and Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure Ularbek Sharsheev also presented reports on their respective activities.
The heads of state congratulated President Sadyr Zhaparov and the people of Kyrgyzstan on Independence Day and expressed their appreciation for the excellent organisation of the SCO meeting.
At the conclusion of the meeting, 28 documents were adopted and signed.

President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov met today, 31 August, with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, who arrived in Kyrgyzstan to participate in the SCO+ Meeting and the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games.
At the outset of the meeting, the Head of State thanked António Guterres for accepting the invitation to visit the Kyrgyz Republic and emphasized that Kyrgyzstan’s Chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Organization and the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence.
The sides discussed prospects for cooperation with the United Nations, current issues on the international agenda, as well as the advancement of mountain and climate initiatives at the global level.
Particular attention was paid to Kyrgyzstan’s upcoming membership in the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member for the 2027–2028 term.
The Head of State identified strengthening international peace and security, enhancing the role of small and developing states in international processes, and consolidating international efforts to address climate challenges and the problems facing mountain regions as key priorities for Kyrgyzstan’s work in the Security Council.
In this context, the sides discussed preparations for the Second Global Mountain Summit “Bishkek+25,” to be held in Bishkek on 21–23 October 2027, which will serve as the concluding event of the Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions, 2023–2027.
President Sadyr Japarov proposed that the United Nations serve as a co-organizer of the Summit.
The participation of the United Nations is expected to provide the event with broader international outreach and help engage a wide range of countries and international partners in discussions on the sustainable development of mountain regions.
Following the meeting, the sides expressed their interest in further strengthening interaction and practical cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the United Nations.

Буга байланыштуу 2027-жылдын 21-23-октябрында Бишкекте өтө турган “Бишкек+25” Экинчи глобалдык тоо саммитине даярдык маселеси талкууланды. Саммит 2023-2027-жылдарга карата Тоолуу аймактарды өнүктүрүү боюнча эл аралык иш-аракеттердин беш жылдыгынын жыйынтыктоочу иш-чарасы болот.
Президент Садыр Жапаров БУУга Саммитти биргелешип уюштурууну сунуштады.
Уюмдун иш-чарага катышуусу анын эл аралык камтуусун кеңейтип, тоолуу аймактарды туруктуу өнүктүрүү маселелерин талкуулоого көптөгөн мамлекеттердин жана эл аралык өнөктөштөрдүн кеңири чөйрөсүн тартууга өбөлгө түзөрү күтүлүүдө.
Жолугушуунун жыйынтыгында Кыргызстан менен Бириккен Улуттар Уюмунун ортосундагы өз ара аракеттенүүнү жана практикалык кызматташтыкты мындан ары да бекемдөөгө кызыкдарлык билдирилди.

Президент Кыргызской Республики Садыр Жапаров сегодня, 31 августа, встретился с Генеральным секретарем Организации Объединенных Наций Антониу Гутерришем, прибывшим в Кыргызстан для участия во Встрече “ШОС+” и церемонии открытия 6-х Всемирных игр кочевников.
В начале встречи Глава государства поблагодарил Антониу Гутерриша за принятие приглашения посетить Кыргызскую Республику и подчеркнул, что председательство Кыргызской Республики в Шанхайской организации сотрудничества совпадает с 25-летием основания Организации и 35-летием независимости страны.
Стороны обсудили перспективы взаимодействия с ООН, актуальные вопросы международной повестки, а также продвижение горных и климатических инициатив на глобальном уровне.
Особое внимание уделено предстоящему членству Кыргызстана в Совете Безопасности ООН в качестве непостоянного члена на 2027–2028 годы.
Глава государства в качестве приоритетных направлений работы в Совете Безопасности отметил укрепление международного мира и безопасности, расширение роли малых и развивающихся государств в международных процессах, а также объединение международных усилий в решении климатических вызовов и проблем горных регионов.
В этой связи обсуждена подготовка к проведению 21–23 октября 2027 года в Бишкеке Второго Глобального горного саммита «Бишкек+25», который станет итоговым мероприятием Международной пятилетки действий по развитию горных регионов на 2023–2027 годы.
Президент Садыр Жапаров предложил ООН выступить соорганизатором Саммита.
Ожидается, что участие Организации придаст мероприятию дополнительный международный охват и будет способствовать привлечению широкого круга государств и международных партнеров к обсуждению вопросов устойчивого развития горных регионов.
По итогам встречи отмечена заинтересованность в дальнейшем укреплении взаимодействия и практического сотрудничества между Кыргызстаном и Организацией Объединенных Наций.

2026-жылдын 28-августунда Нью-Йорк шаарындагы Бириккен Улуттар Уюмунун штаб-квартирасында Кыргыз Республикасынын төрагалыгы алдында БУУга мүчө мамлекеттердин Азия-Тынч океан тобунун кезектеги ай сайын өткөрүлүүчү жыйыны болуп өттү.
Кыргызстан 2026-жылдын август айынын ичинде Азия-Тынч океан тобунун Төрагасынын функцияларын аткарып, Топтун ишмердүүлүгүн координациялоону, үзгүлтүксүз консультацияларды өткөрүүнү, ошондой эле аймактагы мамлекеттердин БУУ системасынын органдарына талапкерлигине байланышкан маселелерди жана күн тартибиндеги башка учурдагы маселелерди кароону камсыз кылды.

On 28 August 2026, the regular monthly meeting of the Asia-Pacific Group of Member States of the United Nations was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Kyrgyzstan served as Chair of the Asia-Pacific Group throughout August 2026, ensuring the coordination of the Group’s activities, conducting regular consultations, and facilitating the consideration of matters related to the candidatures of States from the region for various bodies of the United Nations system, as well as other current agenda items.
The importance of further strengthening coordination and solidarity among the Member States of the Asia-Pacific Group within the framework of the United Nations was also emphasized.

28 августа 2026 года в штаб-квартире Организации Объединенных Наций в Нью-Йорке под председательством Кыргызской Республики состоялось очередное ежемесячное заседание Азиатско-Тихоокеанской группы государств-членов ООН.
Кыргызстан осуществлял функции Председателя Азиатско-Тихоокеанской группы в течение августа 2026 года, обеспечивая координацию деятельности Группы, проведение регулярных консультаций и рассмотрение вопросов, связанных с кандидатурами государств региона в органы системы ООН и другими текущими вопросами повестки дня.
Была также отмечена важность дальнейшего укрепления координации и солидарности между государствами Азиатско-Тихоокеанской группы в рамках деятельности Организации Объединенных Наций.
