🐇 Follow the white rabbit to WONDERLAND, the Armory’s 2026 annual fundraising gala on Tuesday, October 27. Guests will experience a one-of-a-kind performance that captures the imagination and spirit of the Armory by ten-time Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, actor, and fashion risk-taker Janelle Monáe. Known for electrifying, genre-defying performances, Monáe will unleash her signature, high-energy style in a breathtaking, immersive environment created by “go to designer” Stefan Beckman (Architectural Digest).

The evening celebrates both the Armory’s artistic programming and its commitment to providing critical arts education programs in underserved New York City public schools.

In just over one week, Steve Reich’s landmark "Music for 18 Musicians" comes to the Armory. Marking the 50th anniversary of the work’s premiere and the composer’s 90th birthday, this immersive new production of "Staged Variations" transforms the Wade Thompson Drill Hall into a living, resonant musical landscape. This work will be staged by dynamic conductor and musical visionary Alan Pierson, within the vast Wade Thompson Drill Hall. Three generations of musicians come together — the original Steve Reich Ensemble, exhilarating new-music ensemble “alarm will sound” and the next generation of musicians from the Manhattan school of music—in a production that expands the original work into a cycling, durational performance.

“There’s beautiful music out there that isn’t written for a string quartet, But we want to play it anyway,” says Amy Schroeder of the two-time Grammy Award-winning Attacca Quartet. Celebrated as one of the most versatile and outstanding ensembles of the moment, Attacca Quartet glides through traditional classical repertoire to electronica, video game music, and contemporary collaborations.

A 2024 graduate from our partner high school, International High School at Prospect Heights, Nephthali is currently pursuing a nursing degree but still has interests in so many different creative and professional avenues. As we come into a new school year and the end of the 16th year of Youth Corps, we remain inspired by the incredible young people we have had the privilege of working with over the years. We are proud to celebrate how the Armory has played a role in their creative and individual development.

Following sold-out runs in Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore, and now New York, director ’s “The Cherry Orchard (벚꽃동산)” has brought lead actors Jeon Do-yeon and to a space unlike the stages they were accustomed to performing on: Park Avenue Armory’s Wade Thompson Drill Hall.

“It’s like an island,” they said.

Last fall, Sasha Cooke Mezzo-Soprano’s Recital Series program at the Armory asked one central question: what is American music? In searching for an answer, she uncovered new perspectives “There’s a reoccurring sense of hope that I found as I started to explore American Repertoire,” she reflects.

Tonight, September 26, from 8pm–10pm EST, hear the full interview alongside Cooke’s recent Armory recital with Grammy nominated pianist Myra Huang on WQXR 105.9FM or on wqxr.org. Together, they present a new program titled “Of Thee I Sing,” including a thoughtfully curated set of works by Copland, Barber, Ives, Weill, Jake Heggie, Sondheim, and more, as well as the New York premiere of an Armory-commissioned work by American composer Jasmine Barnes.
