Tragedy at LaGuardia: 2 Killed, Dozens Injured as Air Canada Plane Collides with Fire Truck
A devastating incident occurred at New York's LaGuardia Airport late Sunday night, leaving two people dead and dozens injured. An Air Canada Express plane, carrying 72 passengers and 4 crew members from Montreal, collided with a fire truck on Runway 4 while landing. The pilot and co-pilot were killed in the crash, while 41 people were taken to the hospital, with 32 released and some still receiving treatment for serious injuries ¹ ² ³.
The fire truck, operated by the Port Authority Police Department, was responding to a separate incident involving a United Airlines flight that reported an unknown odor in the cockpit. Air traffic control audio reveals a frantic call for the truck to stop, with the controller admitting to "messing up".
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are investigating the incident, and LaGuardia Airport remains closed until further notice.
