We enjoyed getting to talk to several of you today at Harps as we kicked off their fundraiser season benefitting your Little Axe Firefighters. They will be fundraising on our behalf through the month of June. We want to thank everyone who gives their support!

Come out and see us this morning at Harps Food Stores Little Axe as we join them for a fundraiser kickoff party. Harps is raising funds to donate to your Little Axe Firefighters. We will be here this morning for meet and greet! Harps says they will have hamburgers and hotdogs, so come meet us and grab a burger with us!

We start every academy with a really pointed conversation. There are easier places to call yourself a firefighter, especially as a volunteer. To earn a seat on our trucks though, that will have a cost. This past Thursday we invited friends and family to join us in taking a few minutes to recognize the accomplishments of our 22nd academy with a graduation and pinning ceremony as they earned those spots. We celebrated their last three months of dedication as they learned all the basics we need them to have to be safe and effective. These newest members of Little Axe Fire are now firefighters ready to respond to the needs of our district.

We may not see weather today but it could be impactful if we do, so keep an eye on it this afternoon and have ways to be alerted.

Today's severe weather setup is one with higher than usual uncertainty in timing/location, but the potential to ramp up quite quickly. Make sure you have a sheltering plan in place and are monitoring the weather this afternoon and evening.

In case you haven’t heard, it’s one of those days. What kind of day? Well… while we haven’t yet tuned in to KFOR-TV to see if Mike Morgan is wearing a sparkly tie, depending on your personality it’s either a “make sure your lawn chair and cooler are firmly planted in the front yard” kind of day, or a “clear out the spiders from the cellar we are probably spending some time there” kind of day. Regardless of which one you are, you are going to want to keep those phones charged, TVs tuned in, weather radios plugged in, and dentures close.

When an emergency vehicle approaches you, you have one and only one choice to make. Pull to the RIGHT ➡️and STOP🛑 , IMMEDIATELY . If you are at a stop at an intersection, 🚦STAY STILL🚦.

❌Don’t keep going like nothing is happening…
❌Don’t turn left…
❌Don’t slam on the brakes…
❌Don’t just slow down slightly…
❌ Don’t speed up…
( all real examples of stuff we see and shake our head in fatherly disapproval as we try to navigate your poor choices)

✅Pull to the right➡️ and stop 🛑
