☕👮‍♂️ Coffee with a Cop – Thank You, NJIT!

Thank you to everyone who came out today for Coffee with a Cop on campus! It was a great opportunity to connect, have meaningful conversations, and spend time together in a relaxed setting.

A special thank you to Cortadito’s Coffee Truck for their incredible generosity in providing free coffee for four hours to our NJIT community. Your support helped make today’s event even more impactful!

We’re also excited to share that Cortadito’s will be opening on May 1 on Halsey Street—be sure to stop by and support them!

🚨 National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 🚨

This week, we proudly recognize the voices behind the badge. They are the professionals who are often the first point of contact in moments of crisis.

On behalf of the leadership of the NJIT Police Department, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our public safety telecommunicators. Your calmness under pressure, your ability to gather critical information, and your unwavering commitment to service make a difference in every call you answer.

You are the unseen first responders that are constantly providing reassurance in chaos, direction in uncertainty, and connection when it matters most.

Your work saves lives. Your voice brings calm. Your dedication does not go unnoticed.

Thank you for your professionalism, your compassion, and your service to our community.

🚗 SAFE DRIVE? USE PRIDE.

At NJIT, safety doesn’t stop at the sidewalk—it extends to every roadway, crosswalk, and parking lot across our campus.

NJIT Police Department is committed to protecting motorists, passengers, and pedestrians through education, awareness, and proactive engagement.

As part of our partnership with the Brain Alliance of New Jersey’s CRASH Campaign, we’re reminding our community to drive with purpose:

🔴 P – Plan your drive
🔴 R – Remove distractions
🔴 I – Involved safety
🔴 D – Drive defensively
🔴 E – Everyone’s responsibility

Whether you’re behind the wheel, riding along, or walking to class—your choices matter.

Let’s work together to prevent crashes and keep our Highlander community safe. 💙

🚔 Drive Safe, Highlanders 🚔

Your safety on the road starts with simple, intentional choices. Whether you’re commuting to campus or heading home, remember:

✔️ Plan your drive – give yourself enough time and know your route
✔️ Remove distractions – put the phone down and stay focused
✔️ Drive defensively – expect the unexpected
✔️ Safety is everyone’s responsibility – look out for one another

At NJIT, we take pride in keeping our community safe—on campus and on the road. Let’s all do our part.

NJIT Police Department’s Community Engagement Unit visited Langston Hughes Elementary School for Career Day 📚✨

Students had the opportunity to interact with officers, learn about law enforcement, and even show off their “academy readiness” with a few push-ups 💪🏽

Moments like these allow us to build positive relationships, inspire young minds, and strengthen the connection between our department and the community.

Special thank you to Langston Hughes Elementary for welcoming us!
