Today feels personal.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Sharon Salvador, our incredible Deputy Director at Brothers Building A Better Nation, on successfully defending her doctoral thesis and earning her Doctor of Business Administration (DBA).
This achievement is remarkable on its own, but when you understand who Sharon is, it carries even more weight.
With over 25 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, community engagement, and strategic development, Sharon has helped secure more than $35 million in funding for organizations like Newark Arts, Bessie Green Community, Inc., and New Community Corp. Her expertise in fundraising, strategic planning, and operations has strengthened institutions and expanded opportunities for communities that are too often overlooked.
But what stands out most to me is not just her résumé. It is who she is as a person.
Sharon has been the living embodiment of love, care, and commitment that this organization needed. Her presence has brought a level of focus, discipline, and compassion that has shaped not only our work, but me personally as a leader. I can say without hesitation that I am a better Executive Director because of her.
A proud Dominican-American woman raised in Newark and a first-generation college graduate, Sharon’s journey reflects resilience, purpose, and faith. From earning her degree in Economics at Rutgers, to her MBA in Global Management, and now completing her DBA with a concentration in Business Intelligence, she continues to lead with both intellect and heart.
Sharon, I pray that you continue to experience success and reach new heights. I want you to know that the spirit of the brotherhood has grown stronger because of your presence. Your impact is lasting, and your leadership is deeply felt.
Congratulations, Dr. Salvador. This is well earned.
