Newark MO, Rural Fire Department Fire Chief Scott York died unexpectedly Thursday, August 15th. There will be no public service or visitation.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Scott's family - his wife and the department Public Information Officer Carol, along with his children and former firefighters for the department Marissa and Shelby. The family have a lot to process and appreciate the love, prayers, and thoughts you have for them. They appreciate your respect of their privacy at this time and continued support of the department.

Newark Rural Fire is grateful to Chief York for his years of dedication and service to the Department, our Mutual Aid partners, the Region B Chiefs Association, and Region B emergency services in general.

Godspeed. We have the watch from here.

Great info from Lori Moots-Clair and the Knox County Health Department for those from the Baring area affected by the storm damage.

A reminder if you are from the Baring area, or helping in the Baring recovery. We can provide the following at no cost to you if you need it:
***Birth Certificates-state fees covered by our agency. Just call with your information if born in the state of MO and we can get that in place.

***Tetanus vaccine-if it has been more than 5 years and you are helping with the recovery, sorting through rubble, etc. Please stop by for a Tetanus shot.

***WIC food instrument recovery. If you or your family is on WIC and you are in need of recovery of lost WIC card, please call us anytime we can get that taken care of for you. If you are not on WIC, and have children age 5 or under in your household, call today to sign up and receive that assistance with food.

***We have diabetic medical supplies (insulin syringes, lancets, etc.) that have been donated to us that we can give to you.

***Medication organizers.

***Medical equipment: walkers, canes, crutches, toilet risers, whatever we have in the storage shed is available to you.

***Carseats/Booster Seats. We have a limited number of seats on hand, but what we have is yours if need it. Just call and make an appointment for pick up.

We are currently working to make grief/post tragedy counseling available to the people of the Baring area and to those that responded to the event. More information to come.

Thanks to Missouri Dept. of Conservation for providing the Wildland Fire training hosted by Hurdland Volunteer Fire Dept tonight. It's great to see so many come out to review things we already know and learn new info and tactics. Attendees included firefighters from Baring, Edina, Hurdland, Knox City Rural Fire Department, Newark MO, Rural Fire Department, and Novelty/Plevna.

Special thanks to Chris and Yvette from MDC for making the trip on this drizzly night!

A fire broke out in a La Belle, Missouri, home Wednesday afternoon.

No one was injured physically in this fire, but not all wounds can be seen. If home is where the heart is, then think of the loss involved for this man. He is a good man and tragedies like this are hard to see.

Thank you KTVO.
