Founded in 1938, The Housing Authority of the City of Newark is the largest housing authority in the state of New Jersey. The agency offers four types of low-income public housing across the city. Housing types offered include Family Low-Rise Developments, Family Townhomes, Elderly and Special Needs Residences, and the Housing Choice Voucher Program. There are 34 family developments, and ten developments which house the elderly and disabled.
