Rental Assistance Applications Now Open Through December 31, 2025

Newark Housing Authority public housing residents experiencing hardship may be eligible for our Rental Assistance Program.

To qualify, residents must:

1. Be a resident of NHA public housing for at least two (2) years

2. Be in good standing, other than delinquent rent (no lease violations in the last 24 months)

3. Have suffered a financial or personal hardship

4. Have a positive 2025 Housekeeping Inspection Report

5. Have a current/good standing PSE&G bill

6. Be current on their Annual Certification

7. Agree to pay current rent on time for the next 12 months

Exclusions apply if:

1. There is a lease termination due to criminal or drug-related legal activity

2. There are unauthorized occupants in the unit

Applications are available at your Site Management Office.
Please take your time completing the application as it helps inform our efforts to support residents.

Ya Está Abierto el Programa de Asistencia para el Alquiler 2025

La Autoridad de Vivienda de Newark está aceptando solicitudes para su Programa de Asistencia para el Alquiler hasta el 31 de diciembre de 2025.

Due to the federal government shutdown and the resulting pause in SNAP benefit distribution after November 1, some households may experience temporary disruptions in food assistance.

To help during this period, several food pantries and soup kitchens are available throughout Essex County and Newark to provide groceries, meals, and other basic resources.
