No safe blood lead level in children has been identified. The effects of lead poisoning can be disabling and permanent and can cause developmental delays, behavioral issues, learning difficulties, and neurological damage. Children can be exposed to lead through paint in homes or buildings built before 1978, soil, water, and some imported toys and candies. Your child should be screened for lead at our around 1 and 2 years of age.

Vaccines play an important role in protecting ourselves and the community around us. Staying up to date on all vaccines is just one way we can do our part in keeping our community as healthy as possible. Wayne County Public Health offers vaccine clinics for adults and children the 3rd Wednesday of every month by appointment beginning at 1pm.

Interpretative Center Dock Tender and Substitute Crossing Guard Positions Available!
Interpretative Center Dock Tender: Part-time employment opportunity for the summer (Mid-May thru Mid-October) 12-20 hours per week, weekends and evenings required. Located on VanBuren Street in the Chamber of Commerce building on the canal. This position requires someone who is friendly, helpful, and reliable to meet and greet visitors and boaters. Walking, the ability to go up and down stairs and light lifting are part of the job. Great opportunity for retired person. The rate of pay is $14.20/hour. Substitute Crossing Guard: The Village of Newark is accepting applications for substitute school crossing guard positions. Individual must be able to report for work on short notice and have their own transportation. The rate of pay is $14.20/hour.
