π Leadership, Teamwork & the Next Generation of Leaders! π
Chief and Captain Amspaugh spent the morning at Licking Valley High School visiting Mr. Andersonβs Aspiring Leaders class! We had a great opportunity to answer studentsβ questions and share real-world experiences about leadership in Fire/EMS and the responsibilities that come with serving our communities.
We discussed several important leadership principles that extend far beyond the firehouse, including:
π₯ Preparation β Being ready before the moment comes.
π» Calm Communication β Staying composed, communicating clearly, and providing direction when situations become stressful.
π€ Trust & Teamwork β Building relationships and relying on one another to accomplish the mission.
π¨βπ Roles & Responsibilities β Understanding your position, respecting the chain of command, and knowing how each person contributes to the team.
π¨ Decision-Making Under Pressure β Evaluating situations, making informed decisions, and taking responsibility when the stakes are high.
Leadership isn't just about wearing a badge or holding a title. It's about setting the example, earning trust, listening to others, taking responsibility, and helping those around you succeed β especially when things get difficult.
A special thank-you to Mia McDonald Sabi WieΓbΓ€ck for inviting us to speak with her classmates and for helping create this opportunity to share our experiences. Itβs encouraging to see students taking an interest in leadership and developing the skills that will serve them well in their future careers and in life.
Thank you to Mr. Anderson and Licking Valley High School for welcoming us into the classroom. Investing in the next generation of leaders is an investment in our communities and our future! π
Lead by example. Build trust. Communicate with purpose. Work as a team. Serve with integrity.
