COVID-19 STATISTICS UPDATE FOR APRIL 17, 2020:
Nine Additional Deaths
248 New Confirmed Cases
45 Additional Recovered Cases*

State health officials announced nine additional deaths related to COVID-19 today.

Of the nine new fatalities, eight were between the ages of 73 and 98-years-old and had underlying health conditions. The ninth victim was a 46-year-old Sussex County man, who is apparently the first of Delaware's 61 total coronavirus deaths not to have any other known health issue.

Thirty-four residents of Delaware long-term care facilities have died from complications related to the novel coronavirus.

Since March 11, New Castle County has recorded 1,100 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19, while Kent County has had 384, and Sussex County 811. In 28 cases, the county of origin was not reported.
