A working commercial assignment at PCA in the early hours this morning. Firefighters found a processing machine to be overheated, that resulted in ignition. No injuries were reported and units returned to service after a little over an hour of work. Thank you to the following mutual-aid departments for their assistance and hard work.
-Heath Fire, Granville Twp., West Licking FD, and Licking Twp.

⚠️ FLOOD SAFETY ALERT ⚠️

Significant flooding is expected overnight as existing groundwater continues to enter local river systems. Rivers in the area are predicted to rise above flood stage during the early morning hours.

Residents in low-lying or flood-prone areas—especially along Raccoon Creek and the Licking River—should take additional safety precautions now. Be prepared to evacuate if conditions worsen or if instructed by emergency officials.

Never drive or walk through floodwater. Turn around, don’t drown.

On July 15, 2026, Newark Fire Department held part 1 of a two part active shooter training at White's Field with Newark Police Department and Heath Fire Department. The second part of the active shooter training will be held today at White's Field with Granville Fire Department, Newark Township, and Newark PD.

On July 20, 2026 the Newark Fire Department had the pleasure of promoting three of our members and hiring one additional firefighter/paramedic.
FFP Jared McBride was promoted to Lieutenant, Lt. Tim Cooperrider was promoted to Captain, and Capt. Brian Howe was promoted to Assistant Chief.
