Newaygo Fire Department

Newaygo Fire Department The Newaygo Fire Department proudly services 56 square miles in Newaygo County. Our area is made up of residential inhabitants and resorts.

This includes all of Brooks Township, approximately sixty (60) percent of Garfield Township, and the City of Newaygo. We have wooded sections along with several lakes and streams. The change in seasons brings a variance in population due to the amount of retirees that live in our area and the large amount of tourists during that season. We are a small, modest, rural department comprised of 22 fire

fighters and we have one station. We provide fire suppression, rescue from heights, water rescue, and vehicle rescue. We also enjoy strong mutual aid relationships with all departments in the Newaygo County area. If you have any questions feel free to stop by the station or give us a call and one of our firefighters will be happy to assist you!

If you are interested in playing you must be a current member of a Fire Department in good standing. You must have a helmet, coat and boots to play.

There are trophies provided by River Country Chamber of Commerce of Newaygo County.

Our team has been hard at work preparing for this year’s Pancake Breakfast, and we’re excited to share a first look at something special — our new truck. Crews have been putting in long hours getting it cleaned, equipped, and ready to show off to the community at Pancake Breakfast. We can’t wait for everyone to see it.

Along with the new apparatus, we’re proud to announce several personnel changes within the department. Please join us in congratulating the following members on their new roles effective September 1st.

We are also welcoming three new hires to the department as we continue to grow and strengthen our team to better serve the Newaygo community.
