Two of your Friendly volunteers, B.Waters and R.Richardson just returned from a 48 hour shift assisting other first responders at the table rock wildfire! Continued thoughts and prayers for the first responders out there fighting fire!

To conclude a full week, your volunteers of station 1 have been extremely busy with a total of 19 calls in the last 7 days. 5 of them being structure fires, 7 brush fires, 2 fire alarms, 3 wrecks, 1 tree down and a fire at a local commercial building!

The busyness continues for Station 1 this week! Thursday evening we assisted Newberry Fire Department with a structure fire in the City! We also had two calls during this time! One for a possible fire at a commerical building, another was a light fixture on fire in the City we handled while they were still on the structure fire! Friday evening we had a possible woods fire that ended up being a controlled burn! Friday night we had an abandoned house fire fully involved on arrival!

Since Saturday March 1st the volunteers of station 1 have been very busy with a total of 13 calls so far!
7 of those calls were small brush piles burning, 2 house fires, 2 motor vehicle accidents 1 involving a train, a tree across roadway, and 1 fire alarm! We assisted Chappells, silverstreet, and bush river on Saturdays house fire! Early Thursday morning we assisted pomaria and st Philips on the second house fire!

This has been a busy week for Station 1! Tuesday night we had a stove fire call, Wednesday night we worked a service call, along with a water flow issue at a local plant!

Thursday around noon we received a structure fire on Highway 395! Crews spend most of the afternoon into the evening working this call! We would like to thank Prosperity Fire, Newberry City, Prosperity Rescue, NCSO, and NCEMS for assisting!

Assisted Silverstreet Fire Department on a house fire Saturday night! This involved an abandoned house, a shed, and a mobile home! We also had a possible house fire Sunday which was not a working house fire!

The volunteers of station 1 had a busy weekend! A refresher burn on Saturday followed by a fire alarm! Sunday a call to set up a landing zone! Into the early hours of Monday morning another fire alarm along with a motor vehicle collision involving a 18 wheeler which lead to a fuel spill! Station 1, Hazmat, DHEC, and NCSO are still on scene with that call! Try to avoid the Highway 121/Wilson Rd area until clean up is complete!

Today your volunteers of Friendly Fire Department (Station1),Prosperity Fire Department, and Fairview O'Neal Fire Department gathered for our annual fire refresher burn! We had a great turnout with many volunteers getting some extra training in several areas!

In the past week your volunteers of Station 1 have been extremely busy! During battling cold temperatures and the holiday we had many types of calls! Christmas Day alone we had 8 calls! The types of calls in the last week are as follows!

Working House fires: 2
Fires at homes: 2
Trees down: 4
Other:1
Wrecks:1
Alarms/ Water flow/ busted Sprinklers: 9

For a total of 19 calls! Please be safe during these low temperature days and be fire safe!

Friendly Fire Dept had their annual Christmas party on December 1. We would like to congratulate Chief Daniel Werts on being named Fireman of the Year. Also, Chief Werts was presented a recognition award for countless hours and dedication to the planning of the new fire station.
We would also like to thank all of our volunteers for their commitment to serve the citizens of Newberry County. Merry Christmas!
