🏛️ Old City Hall is Getting a New Chapter! ✨The transformation of our Old City Hall (City Hall South) is moving right along, and we’re excited to give our Newberry neighbors a peek at the progress! 👀

Once complete, this familiar space will have a fresh purpose with office space for our City Commission, the Property Appraiser, and A*O, along with a large meeting space and convenient access to our New City Hall.

And there’s one addition we’re especially excited about… 🔊 outdoor speakers! With the holiday season right around the corner, we can already imagine a little Christmas music adding some extra cheer to downtown Newberry. 🎄

We love seeing our historic spaces continue to serve our community in new ways, and we can’t wait to show you more as the project comes together!

☀️💦 That’s a Wrap on Summer Fun, Newberry! 💦☀️What a summer it has been! As we say goodbye to another season of sunshine and splashin’, we want to send a HUGE thank you to Newberry Main Street Organization and our amazing Newberry Firefighters (IAFF Local 3852 Newberry Branch) for helping bring the fun with Splash Days and Operation Cool Down! 🚒🌊

But the biggest thank you goes to YOU, our Newberry neighbors! 💙 Seeing our community come out, cool off, laugh together, and make memories with our local volunteers is what made these summer days so special.

We’ve loved every splash, smile, and sunny afternoon—and we’re already dreaming up ways to make next summer even BIGGER & BETTER! 👀☀️

Until next summer, Newberry! 💦

🏛️✨ Newberry’s History Has a New Home! ✨🏛️ We’re excited to share the beginning of something truly special—the curation of Newberry’s official Museum of History! 📸📖

Throughout the Little Red School House, pieces of Newberry’s story are beginning to come to life. Historic photographs line both sides of the stairwell, showcasing downtown Newberry, our first gas station, farmland, and many of the people and places that helped shape the community we know today.

As you continue down the hall, you’ll find our “Hall of Firsts,” recognizing milestones like Newberry’s first African American mayor (Freddie Warmack), first female mayor (Mentholee Norfleet), first official city manager (Grady Hartzog), first Native American and longest serving commissioner (Lois Forte), the first women’s basketball team, and more!

We also have a very special relic discovered in Watermelon Pond in 2001. Gifted to us during the commission meeting last night by former City Manager Keith Ashby—another unique piece of our area’s history that we’re excited to preserve and share. ✨

And this is just the beginning! Our history tells the story of who we are—we look forward to continuing to grow the collection and preserve the people, places, stories, and artifacts that make Newberry so special for generations to come. 💙

🚌Back to School Means Back to Bus Safety! 📚As our students head back to the classroom, the Newberry Fire Department wants to remind everyone to slow down, stay alert, and help keep our kids safe! ❤️

School buses will be back on our roads, and children will be walking and waiting at bus stops throughout our community. Please watch for flashing bus lights, obey school bus stop signals, slow down in school zones, and keep an extra eye out for children near the roadway. Whether you’re behind the wheel, walking to the bus stop, or riding the bus — safety starts with all of us!

Here’s to a safe, happy, and successful school year, Newberry! 🍎✏️
