This weekend we take a moment to honor those that gave the ultimate sacrifice.
🇺🇸 Memorial Day 🇺🇸
Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
Memorial Day began after the Civil War as “Decoration Day,” when Americans gathered to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers and flags. Over time, it became a national day of remembrance for all military personnel who died in service to our country.
While many spend the holiday weekend with family, cookouts, and celebrations, it’s important to remember the true meaning behind this day. Memorial Day is not just the start of summer — it is a time to pause, reflect, and honor those who never made it home.
Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication to this nation will never be forgotten.
From all of us at the Newburgh Fire Department, we thank our fallen heroes and the families who carry their legacy forward every day. ❤️🤍💙
“Freedom is never free.”

🚧🌧️ TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN 🌧️🚧
Floodwaters are more dangerous than they appear. Just a few inches of moving water can put your life at risk.
⚠️ Did you know? 💧 6 inches of fast-moving water can knock an adult off their feet. 🚗 12 inches of water can carry away a small vehicle. 🚙 2 feet of rushing water can sweep away most cars and SUVs. 📊 More than half of all flood-related deaths involve vehicles.
Never drive through flooded roadways — you cannot tell how deep the water is or if the road underneath has been washed away.
✅ Play it safe: • Turn around and find another route • Obey road closure signs and barricades • Slow down during heavy rain • Keep an eye on weather alerts
Your destination can wait. Your life cannot.
