The 4th of July Holiday is Fast Approaching: Fireworks Permits are Required in Newbury

Newbury residents are reminded that permits from the fire department are required for all consumer fireworks displays.

For people who have had fireworks permits in the past, renewals are available on line. If you have not had a fireworks permit, you can request on the Town of Newbury website to schedule an inspection of the display site.

The inspection is needed to confirm that the display location to is at least 100ft from any structure. Applicants must be 21 years old and be the person conducting the display. The applicant must be the property owner or renter with written permission from the owner. All fireworks displays must be over by 10:00pm.

Please be aware that inspections may take 48 hours to schedule. So the request should be made as soon as possible.

The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services collected samples of the unknown substance found in Sunapee Harbor and will be testing them tomorrow. Authorities say the spill was contained and prevented from spreading further. LINK IN COMMENTS ⬇️

Before setting up a campfire, make sure it is allowed. Contact your local fire department for information on local burn permits. Recognize when the danger of a wildfire starting and spreading is higher. High fire danger conditions include high winds, low humidity, drought, and elevated temperatures.

When allowed, recreational fires such as campfires need to be at least 25 feet away from structures.

Where outdoor burning is allowed, never use gasoline or other flammable or combustible liquids.

Boat Rescue
On Tuesday afternoon Newbury Fire Rescue Boat 1 and Sunapee Fire Boat 2 were dispatched to a call for a boat with people aboard taking on water off Malia Terrace. Upon arrival the Boat 1 crew found the boat being towed by an another private boat to Newbury Harbor. Boat 1 escorted the boats to the harbor and notified the Sunapee boat that they could cancel their response and return to Sunapee.

Newbury Brush Fire

Newbury Fire Rescue Engine 4, Tanker 1 and UTV 1, along with a crew from the Bradford Fire Department responded to a brush fire off of Morse Lane late Saturday afternoon.
We thank Bradford Fire for their assistance in fighting this fire.
