🐾 If your dog goes, please pick it up — every time, everywhere.

We’ve seen an increase in dog waste being left behind in our parks and public spaces. Just today, our Parks Department had to deal with multiple instances of dog waste in Joppa.

A common misconception is that dog waste will “just break down” or disappear. Unfortunately, it doesn’t.

Dog waste:
• Does not quickly decompose like wild animal waste
• Can carry harmful bacteria and parasites
• Can pollute soil and nearby waterways
• Creates an unpleasant and unsanitary environment for others

If your dog goes, please bag it and dispose of it properly — every time, everywhere.

Please be aware that failure to pick up after your dog is subject to fines, and violations will be strictly enforced. If you choose not to clean up after your pet, and are caught, you may be cited.

We all share these beautiful spaces. Let’s work together to keep them clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone. 🐶🌲

Lou Lou recently moved from California to Massachusetts, and is not familiar with the area. He is currently hiding under a shed in the area of 16 Salem St. There is an AirTag on his grey collar so the owner has been tracking him. A trap has been set near the shed he is under, fingers crossed he adventures in!

In case he leaves that area, please report any sightings to the owner, Michael, at 323-599-0255. Thank you! 🐈

UPDATE 8/4/26 STILL MISSING. Jillian is still missing. Please check in, around, and under you yard structures (pools, garages, decks, etc) and double check your outdoor security cameras. It is possible someone picked up Jillian not knowing she has a family that loves her. Did someone you know recently get a dog that resembles Jillian?

With much help behind the scenes, many stolen dogs make it home, while others are still out there. Please don't leave your dog in your yard or tied up outside where they can become victim to being stolen, to predators (human and animal), cars, other dogs or even just their own curiosity allowing them to wander off. You think it will never happen to you, but we have many owners who can tell you otherwise.

NEVER leave your dog unattended!
