🚨🚨Urgent mutual aid ask!

One of our neighbours has been kidnapped by ICE and deported, forcibly separated his wife and two daughters. He was the primary breadwinner and the household is now struggling to pay their rent. They had been homeless before, living in their car, and then in a shelter. With the loss of his income, the three of them are yet again facing the threat of homelessness. It is time for Amesbury to step up for this family. It may be hard to stop the federal agents from carrying out their kidnapping, but taking care of a family in our town to decrease the impacts of the husband/father’s deportation is how we can all reduce the harm.

We are looking for assistance in the following ways:

💵Raising money to pay her arrears ($4000) and the portion of her rent she cannot pay moving forward ($1800).

💼Helping the mom find a job in amesbury to supplement the income from her other parttime retail job and enables the household to pay rent moving forward.

🏡An apartment that is more affordable- her current assistance will be dramatically decreasing in the fall and her rent will become $2500 (and her current apartment should not be that price for what it is). We are looking for an apartment- ideally 2 bedroom- that is more affordable.

👧🏽Childcare support for an elementary aged daughter that enables the mom to work more and pay rent moving forward

Come join us for a Mutual Aid Community Potluck on Sunday, July 19, from 3-5 PM on Lake Attitash to learn about and fundraise for our friends at the East Boston Crisis Response Fund.

The East Boston Crisis Response Fund was founded in 2025 as a community fund by residents in East Boston wanting to support neighbors locked out of access to safety net resources. They have connected with us to build community, share lessons learned, and support each other. This month for our potluck, we are supporting them!

Bring a dish or snack to share and come support East Boston Crisis Response Fund! Some drinks provided, but BYOB is also encouraged!

We will have an outdoor projector showing the World Cup final and everyone’s welcome to swim in the lake, but please keep in mind there are no lifeguards.
