A New Chapter Begins

As of July 1, 2026, the Newcastle Fire Protection District has officially become part of the Placer Hills Fire Protection District.

While the name has changed, our commitment to protecting the Newcastle community remains stronger than ever. Fire and EMS services will continue under Placer Hills Fire, including the expansion of Advanced Life Support (ALS) staffing at Station 41.

Power has been restored to most customers

A large power outage is currently affecting more than 47,000 customers across Placer County.

The Placer County Sheriffโ€™s Office is receiving reports of numerous traffic signals that are out due to the outage. We are also responding to an increased number of alarm calls triggered by the loss of power.

If you encounter a dark or non-functioning traffic signal, treat it as a four-way stop and use extra caution. Please be patient with one another and allow extra travel time as crews work to address the outage.

Our deputies are actively monitoring the situation, and we will provide additional updates as information becomes available.
