Maybe this was your first year showing an animal. Maybe you built your first woodworking project, learned to bake cookies from scratch, competed in robotics, attended camp, shot your personal best, or discovered a project you absolutely loved.

Whatever your experience looked like, it matters.

Your 4-H Story is your chance to capture those memories and celebrate how you've grown this year.

There is no required format and no minimum length—just tell your story in your own words.

The application for the 2027 Wyoming 4-H State Leadership Team is now open! We are looking for exemplary young leaders ages 16–18 who are passionate about 4-H and making a positive impact in their communities. Please encourage eligible youth to apply: https://forms.gle/L18ZkQnZdLLEiERG6

Selected team members will have the opportunity to:
Attend a leadership retreat in Laramie
Represent Wyoming 4-H at public and statewide events
Lead activities for fellow 4-H members at events such as Civic Day and Showcase Showdown
Develop and strengthen public-speaking skills at awards ceremonies
Receive a $900 scholarship toward a National 4-H trip of their choice, including 4-H Conference, 4-H Congress, or Ignite
Meet with legislators at the Wyoming State Capitol
Receive a $1,000 educational scholarship upon graduation and successful completion of Leadership Team service

Important dates:
Application deadline: September 7 at 11:59 p.m.
Interviews: Mid-September
Leadership Retreat: October 16–18 in Laramie

This is an incredible opportunity for youth to grow as leaders, represent Wyoming 4-H, and build skills and experiences that will benefit them well beyond their time on the Leadership Team.

Virtual Equine College Fair– September 18, 2026 from 2-8:00 pm (eastern time)
Location: Virtual COLLEGE FAIR | AYHC
The American Youth Horse Council (AYHC) is pleased to announce the 2026 Virtual Equine College Fair, to be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 2 to 8 pm Eastern. The free online event will connect prospective students and their families with colleges, universities, trade schools, and educational programs from across the United States that offer equine, animal science, agricultural, and related fields of study.

Designed for high school students in grades 9–12, the Virtual Equine College Fair provides a convenient opportunity to explore post-secondary educational options without the expense of travel. Parents, guardians, school counselors, agricultural educators, Extension professionals, and youth advisors are also encouraged to participate and assist students as they begin planning for their future.

NWSS Catch a Calf Program – Applications open August 1st
The National Western Stock Show’s Catch-A-Calf Program gives youth ages 14-19, the opportunity to raise and care for a beef calf while developing valuable skills in animal husbandry, responsibility, record keeping, and livestock exhibition. Participants work with their calf throughout the year and bring it to the National Western Stock Show to compete and showcase what they have learned.
Wyoming Meat Judging Youth Camp – Oct 3-5th (Laramie, WY)
Learn to identify retail cuts, place classes, and answer questions. They will also be going over how to do reasons on classes.

Photographers take note! Here is an amazing opportunity to learn and grow your skills!

Now that the Wyoming State Fair is over and all of the exhibits have gone home, I would like to thank the WSF for having me as one of the judges for the 4-H Photography competition this year. It was an absolute honor.

I hope that the young people who entered, their parents, and their friends see this because what I am about to say is not something I say lightly.

There was some absolutely AMAZING talent shown from these kids. Amazing! There were many, many entries that did not get a purple ribbon, but there were only very slight changes that would have kicked them into that upper level.

And when I say slight...I mean slight. A tiny shift in position. A little bit different crop. A larger print option.

I was absolutely blown away by so very many of the images. Not just by the technical skill but by the vision. I truly hope that many of these young folks continue on in the photography journey.

I would also like to make an offer to any one of them. If you would like any critique or help on the image you entered this year, I would be very happy to go over it with you. Either via telephone, Zoom call, or in person if you are in the area. Just reach out to me here.

Learn from experienced beekeepers, researchers, Extension educators and conservation professionals, ask questions and connect with others who share an interest in bees and pollinators.
