Tonight, Newcastle Volunteer Fire Department was joined by Black Hills Life Flight 7 out of Hot Springs, Campbell County Health-EMS, and Weston County Health Services for a great evening of training. Members had the opportunity to tour, discuss operations and patient transport with the BHLF7 crew. Afterwards training shifted to stabilization and extrication techniques on a complex accident, involving a school bus.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Weston County School District #1 for their continued support of NVFD and for donating decommissioned school buses, allowing our members to train in realistic scenarios.
We would also like to thank Kaiser Underground for providing equipment to help us move our scenario vehicles and set up tonight's training.
Training together with our mutual aid and healthcare partners helps ensure we're prepared to work seamlessly when a real emergency occurs. Thank you to everyone who helped make tonight's training possible!

Members of the Newcastle Volunteer Fire Department traveled to Riverton this weekend to attend the annual Wyoming Firefighters Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Wyoming Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service at the Wyoming Fire Academy.

It was an honor to join firefighters, families, and departments from across Wyoming in recognizing those inducted into the Hall of Fame for their dedication, leadership, and lasting contributions to the Wyoming fire service, while also remembering those firefighters whose names have been added to the Fallen Firefighter Memorial.

These memorials have a special connection to Newcastle. Members of our own fire service are among those whose names are forever inscribed on the Fallen Firefighter Memorial, and Newcastle is also represented among those honored in the Wyoming Firefighters Hall of Fame. This year, we were especially proud to see Rob Akers, whose long career serving Wyoming began in Newcastle, inducted into the Hall of Fame.

For our members who made the trip, the weekend was an opportunity not only to honor this year’s inductees and Wyoming’s fallen firefighters, but also to reflect on the history and traditions of the fire service and the Newcastle firefighters who are part of that legacy.

Congratulations to this year’s Wyoming Firefighters Hall of Fame inductees, and may we never forget the firefighters who gave their lives in service to their communities.

Honor the past. Serve the present. Prepare the future.
