At the recent Winter Birding Weekend, a group of ornithology enthusiasts spotted several exciting species including irruptive finches that move around the continent, a predatory songbird (a shrike) and more!

ESF alumus and finch expert Matt Young presented “The Evening Grosbeak Road to Recovery Project and The Stokes Guide to Finches of the United States and Canada” during the NYSOA meeting held in and around nearby Long Lake.
