Bernie has asked for this this to be shared.
With a very very heavy heart sharing this post about Carol with all the right words .Ed Spence wrote this is also a fellow Marine as well as a pastor in my corner .
Carol is not doing well at all. I will start at the top. She still has clots, so she is on a blood thinner and she has another bleed in the center of her brain inoperable. The pressure is adding up as we discuss this. A ton of damage happened to the brain. She is tubed and on a machine. She has a lung infection; she is in multiple organ failure and she has clots in her lung and all over her body now. The Bernie, her husband, has found it that it is time to extubate her taking the tube out to make her comfortable and let nature take over. After the family has come to say her goodbyes.
Carol was a powerhouse of a woman. She ran "Vets in nature" Eryn and I went down there for a hunt on their farm. They have car shows in which I got the People's choice award. She got it so they served chicken, live bands, and literally hundreds of baskets. She was just bragging the other day that she had just gotten another big donation the day actually she had the stroke. That has how tough she was. Sicker than a dog and she was still doing Vets in Nature business. They had fishing trips, hunts, equine therapy. Carol would help veterans with horses and the care of them.
Her husband, Bernie Bernie Cook and fellow US Marine Corps Pilot in the 60s during Vietnam, he is a great jovial guy. Always, has something nice to say to everyone, even if you just slapped him. He would forgive you, turn the other check a, smile and tell you a parable about life. They have been married for 45 years. I am going to miss Carol . At the car show, I got to spend the afternoon with her, like I always did on the hunts, and just had a good time and laughed with my family. She excepted everyone as one of her own and had a very special spot in her heart for veterans.
I hope you are loving your loved ones, turn off the phone and talk to each other as you never know when it will end and do not be caught missing conversing with your loved ones. They are special and we can not get through this life without them. As God said, It is not good for man to be alone. And created Eve. Where ever you are, I am always up for coffee and will travel to where you are to spend the day with you. I love you all, whether Veteran, High school classmates, college classmates, vets organizations where we met. I love you all. Please, all of you, be safe and hug your family, even your crazy cousin Eddie. LOL. God bless you all in all that you do.
