We still have boxes!

Today is Summer Feeding Box Distribution Day at the Kay County Extension Office!

We are so grateful for the incredible volunteer support helping make this program possible for our community. One of our amazing Kay County 4-H youth even helped by doing an “unboxing” to show what is included in each meal box!

These weekly meal boxes are available for youth ages 1–18 and include enough shelf-stable food for:
🥣 5 breakfasts
🥪 5 lunches

Parents, caregivers, grandparents, guardians — or even the child themselves — may pick up a box.

The Kay County Extension Office is pleased to announce that we will serve as a summer meal distribution site this summer for youth in Kay County. This is the first time the Kay County Extension Office has undertaken this important initiative, helping address food insecurity in our community through the Non-Congregate Summer Meal Service Program.

The Newkirk area is one of the underserved areas within Kay County, and we are thankful for the opportunity to help increase access to food resources for local families during the summer months when school meals are unavailable.

The need is significant in Oklahoma:
• Oklahoma is one of the hungriest states in the nation.
• 1 in 6 Oklahoma adults and seniors are food insecure.
• 1 in 4 Oklahoma children experience food insecurity.

Weekly food boxes will include 5 shelf-stable breakfasts and 5 lunches for each child ages 1–18.

We are grateful for the partnerships and support that make this outreach possible as we work together to support children and families in Kay County.

The Kay County OSU Extension Office is currently closed today, 5/19/26, until further notice due to an ongoing power outage. Thank you for your patience.
