Kay County 4-H was well represented at Northeast District Contest Days, with members competing in Food Showdown and Skill-a-thon!
Congratulations to:
• Alice Henderrickson – 3rd Place in Junior Consumer Judging Skill-a-thon
• Our Sr Food Showdown Team – Lindsey Vap & MaCaila Schneeberger for placing 3rd and advancing to compete at State 4-H Round-Up!
We are so proud of all our members and the way they represented Kay County!

Summer is HERE, and that means 4-H camp time!
4-H members from Kay, Noble, and Grant counties kicked off their summer at Tri-County 4-H Camp with three days full of fun, learning, and friendship.
From hands-on workshops like homemade pizza making to spending time with the State 4-H STEMist, campers had the chance to try new things and build new skills.
Our camp counselors also stepped into leadership roles, planning and leading their own workshops—from fun icebreakers to learning all about tornadoes!
Overall, campers experienced a little bit of everything—and a whole lot of fun! 💚

We’re now cleared for takeoff! Registration is open for Food, Fun, 4‑H Takes Flight — the free, at-home cooking program where you can explore new countries without ever leaving the kitchen. The Kay County Extension Office is pleased to announce that we will serve as a summer meal distribution site this summer for youth in Kay County. This is the first time the Kay County Extension Office has undertaken this important initiative, helping address food insecurity in our community through the Non-Congregate Summer Meal Service Program.

The Newkirk area is one of the underserved areas within Kay County, and we are thankful for the opportunity to help increase access to food resources for local families during the summer months when school meals are unavailable.

The need is significant in Oklahoma:
• Oklahoma is one of the hungriest states in the nation.
• 1 in 6 Oklahoma adults and seniors are food insecure.
• 1 in 4 Oklahoma children experience food insecurity.

Weekly food boxes will include 5 shelf-stable breakfasts and 5 lunches for each child ages 1–18.

We are grateful for the partnerships and support that make this outreach possible as we work together to support children and families in Kay County.
