We had an awesome time hanging out with the 5th graders at Elm Street Elementary today for our very first “Hugs & High-5’s” event!

Officers from the Patrol Division, Motors & Bikes Unit, Criminal Investigations Unit, Property & Evidence Unit, Professional Standards Unit, Animal Control Unit, and the Community Relations Unit spent time visiting classrooms, answering some great questions, sharing a few laughs, and getting to know the students. And trust us, these 5th graders came prepared with some GREAT questions!

A HUGE thank you to the students for making us feel so welcome, the teachers for opening their classrooms to us, and the Coweta County School System for our continuing partnership that allows us to bring opportunities like this to life!

Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming participants from the City of Newnan (Government) Citizens Academy to the Newnan Police Department!

Chief Brent Blankenship greeted the group as they got a behind-the-scenes look at how our department operates. Participants learned about our department's budget, policies and procedures, and how our various divisions and units work together to serve and protect the Newnan community.

We appreciate the opportunity to share more about what we do and how we do it. Programs like the Citizens Academy help strengthen relationships, promote transparency, and build a better understanding between local government and the community we proudly serve.

Thank you to everyone who joined us!

REMINDER: Join us for the Newnan Police Department’s 1st Annual Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at 1 Joseph Hannah Blvd.
Families are invited to enjoy a fun and safe evening filled with decorated vehicles, candy, costumes, and community spirit. City departments will be competing for prizes for the best-decorated trunks, so expect plenty of spooky creativity, a few friendly ghosts, and at least one skeleton who has been waiting all year to get out of the house.
Come dressed in your favorite costume, bring the kids, and enjoy a festive night with the Newnan Police Department. There will be treats, laughs, and plenty of trunks dressed better than most of us.
No tricks, just treats—unless somebody forgets the candy. Then we may have to investigate. 🎃👻🍬 See less
