โš  Disclaimer: This episode discusses mental health and su***de. โš

When someone experiences a mental health crisis, the first interaction can change everything.

Episode 29 of Coweta 441 spotlights Coweta Cares, a partnership between Coweta County Fire Rescue (CCFR) and Pathways Center Mental Health that brings trained mental health professionals directly to the scene. This team delivers on-time assessments, stabilization and coordinated follow-up care, offering a safer, more compassionate alternative to an automatic ER visit or law enforcement response.

Hear from CCFR Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division Chief Brian Beckworth and Dr. Courtney Pierce as they explain how Coweta Cares is already making a difference in Coweta County.

During the Board of Commissioners meeting on August 25, Representative Lynn Smith was honored with the 2026 Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) Legislative Service Award, presented by Todd Edwards, ACCG Director of Governmental Affairs, and Joel Truss, Governmental Affairs Associate. The award honors state legislators who consistently go above and beyond to support the work of county government and promote sound policy.

Throughout her years of dedicated service, Rep. Smith has been a strong advocate for Coweta County. Her leadership on statewide water planning and protection of the Chattahoochee River Basin have played an important role in protecting Cowetaโ€™s long-term water resources. She has also championed environmental stewardship, watershed protection and responsible growth while working closely with local leaders on infrastructure and other needs important to our community.

Rep Smithโ€™s willingness to listen, collaborate and advocate for Coweta County has made a meaningful difference here at home and at the Georgia Capitol.

As she prepares to retire from the Georgia General Assembly, we are grateful for her years of dedicated service and commitment to Coweta County. We wish Rep. Smith all the best in her next chapter and thank her for the lasting impact she has made on our community!
