A family fun celebration featuring: face painting & balloon twisting, self-guided tours of Witte Hall, back-to-back magic shows, hands-on kids’ art activities, a butterfly garden experience, music, photo ops and giveaways, Summer Reading sign-ups, a Newport Beach Theatre Arts performance, and a Newport Beach Animal Shelter reading with Officer Bubbles

Join us for surf legend Shaun Tomson at the grand opening of Witte Hall, Saturday, July 11 at 7 pm. Author of bestselling books “Surfer’s Code” and “The Surfer and the Sage,” Shaun will offer insights on resilience and purpose as he recounts a life spent riding the world’s best waves. SUNDAY MUSICALE FEATURING A CELLO QUARTET Sunday, July 12 3:00 pm
A cello quartet featuring Wonsun Keem, In Hee Na, Crystal Soo-Jung, Andy Su. Sunday Musicales at Witte Hall are free and open to the public. Seating is first come, first served, limited by room capacity of 294. Funding is graciously provided by the Friends of the Newport Beach Public Library. It’s The Week of Creativity at the library! Get ready to glue, color, and create during Summer Craft-O-Rama. Kids and families are invited to drop in and make fun summer crafts, from cute harbor animals to beachy and boat-themed projects. Come make something awesome and enjoy creative summer vibes. Teen SRP Book Club: Join us for Teen Summer Reading Program book club! We’ll meet 3 times this Summer to chat about books you’ve loved, books you’ve read, and books you can’t wait to read! Enjoy fun literary themed activities and games and meet other teens who love to read. Snacks provided. Ages 12-17. No registration required.

Book Club Explorers: Discuss A Hero’s Guide to Summer Vacation by Pablo Cartaya, followed by a drawing game. Grades 4-6. Registration required. In-person and Zoom options available. Comedy Puppet Show: Hilarious, interactive puppet shows with Dino Chase Through Space and Timmy T-Rex and his Roar’n Rocket spaceship. These energetic shows are packed with laughs, audience participation and feel-good fun for kids and families. No registration required.

This exciting live animal presentation introduces audiences to the mysterious and fascinating creatures of the Emerald Forest. Possible animal visitors include a playful kinkajou, a majestic boa constrictor, a colorful iguana, or an armored armadillo. This engaging, educational program is perfect for curious minds of all ages and brings the wonders of the wild straight to the library. Ages 6-11. No registration required. Join us this Friday, June 5 from 1 to 4 pm and Saturday, June 6, from 9 am to 2 pm for a Friends of the Library summer book sale! Thousands of bestsellers, children’s books, vintage, cookbooks, CDs, DVDs, LPs and much more. Central Library, 1000 Avocado Avenue, Newport Beach. Friday: books are three for $1; Saturday: all books are $3/bag. All funds raised benefit programs at the Newport Beach Public Library.
