From the harbor to the hillsides, Newport Beach is one of the safest and most beautiful cities in America, and that is no accident. It is the product of decades of investment in excellent policing and of city leaders who put public safety before politics.

Keep it that way. Re-elect Joe Stapleton, Erik Weigand and Mayor Lauren Kleiman.

Newport Beach's new ordinance gives the Police Chief and City Manager authority to restrict pedestrian and vehicle access and to close piers, parks and beach sections during the holidays that draw dangerous crowds.

It also created designated rideshare zones to break up the gridlock that traps our officers. These are the practical tools our members asked for, and this council delivered them.

Joe Stapleton helped put public safety drones in the air, stood up the department's Crime Information Center and expanded the Homeless Liaison Officer program.

Modern threats need modern tools. Joe made sure our officers got them. Re-elect Joe Stapleton, District 1.

Stay safe, Newport. Avoid the Balboa Peninsula due to flooding.

The City of Newport Beach is advising residents and motorists to stay off the Peninsula. Recent storm conditions and elevated tides have flooded streets.

Do not drive through flooded streets. Use alternate routes, drive with caution, and follow directions from officers and other public safety personnel on scene. Clear roads let your Newport Beach police officers and firefighters reach the people who need help.

City crews are monitoring conditions and responding to impacted areas. Please avoid unnecessary travel in the area until conditions improve. In an emergency, call 911.
