Home Invasion Robbery Arrest

The Newport Beach Police Department has arrested three suspects following a months-long investigation into a violent home invasion robbery that occurred in Newport Beach earlier this year.

On March 13, 2026, at approximately 5:51 a.m., Newport Beach Police Department officers responded to a reported home invasion robbery at a short-term rental property in Newport Beach. Investigators learned that two masked suspects, armed with handguns, entered the residence and demanded money and narcotics from occupants inside.

During the incident, multiple victims were assaulted and sustained injuries requiring medical treatment. The suspects allegedly stole personal property, including cellular phones, jewelry, vehicle keys, and other valuables before fleeing the scene.

Detectives immediately launched an extensive investigation, utilizing several technology-related investigative resources. Investigators ultimately identified three individuals believed to be involved in planning and carrying out the robbery.

On June 3, 2026, detectives arrested:

- Linda Shahin, 38, of Los Angeles
- Edward Graves, 35, of Los Angeles
- Miguel Cervantes, 28, of Alhambra

All three suspects were booked on charges related to conspiracy and robbery. Graves and Cervantes were additionally booked on charges related to assault with a deadly weapon.

Search warrants were subsequently served at multiple locations connected to the suspects. During those searches, investigators recovered evidence believed to be connected to the robbery, including property reported stolen by victims. Detectives also recovered fi****ms and additional evidence that remains under investigation.

Based on evidence obtained throughout the investigation, detectives believe Shahin played a significant role in orchestrating the robbery, while Graves and Cervantes are believed to have carried out the home invasion.

Additionally, the Newport Beach Police Department is a partner agency with the Bureau of Alcohol, To***co, Fi****ms & Explosives (ATF), Orange County Violent Crimes Task Force (OCVCT), and would like to thank them for their assistance throughout the investigation and during the apprehension and arrests of the suspects.

The investigation remains active and additional charges may be considered as evidence continues to be reviewed. This investigation highlights the commitment and tenacity of the men and women of the Newport Beach Police Department and their partners.

Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Newport Beach Police Department Detective Division at (949) 644-3777.

Stolen. Recovered. Suspect Arrested.

On June 8 at 7:53 p.m., officers were alerted to a theft in progress in the 2200 block of W. Oceanfront involving several skateboards.

Within minutes, officers located the suspect, recovered the stolen property, and made an arrest.

The skateboards are back where they belong, and another quick response by NBPD helped keep the evening rolling in the right direction.

On Saturday, the Newport Beach Honor Guard and LAPD Honor Guard came together to honor the life and legacy of retired Police Chief Charles Gross.

Chief Gross served the LAPD from 1949 to 1977 and later led the Newport Beach Police Department from 1977 to 1985. His service left a lasting impact on both agencies.

NBPD Chief Miner presented the American flag to one of Chief Gross’s daughters, and each daughter received commemorative coins from both the LAPD and NBPD. A fitting tribute to a respected leader and public servant. Rest easy, Chief Gross.

On May 9th, 2026 at 6:15pm, NBPD Motor Officers attempted to stop a subject on an illegal electric motorcycle in the area of MacArthur Blvd and Bison Ave. The male subject immediately fled from officers by riding at a high rate of speed into opposing traffic and across an intersection against a red light. Due to the extremely reckless riding behavior, officers did not pursue the subject.

While reviewing the incident, officers recognized the subject as a juvenile male they had prior contacts with involving illegal e-motorcycles. A search warrant was authored and granted for the subject’s residence.

On May 19th, 2026, the search warrant was executed at the subject’s residence. The male juvenile was taken into custody without incident. He was booked at the NBPD Juvenile Jail on felony charges and released to his parents. The Surron e-motorcycle used in the crime was seized as evidence pursuant to the search warrant.

Based on the documented history with the subject and his parents, the mother will be referred to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for additional charges.

This incident serves as a reminder that e-motorcycles are dangerous and illegal. NBPD will conduct follow-up, search warrants, make arrests and seek charges against those involved and the parents of those involved in these types of incidents.
